Wikipedia:Centralized discussion/Image placeholders/Additional Proposals

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Proposal 5: If image placeholder use is retained under proposal 1 above, then Wikipedia image placeholders should be listed at expansion requests.

[edit]

If the use of placeholder images in article space is retained, then the Category:Wikipedia image placeholders should be listed along with other approved expansion request messages at template message Expansion requests. The alternative would be to create Wikipedia:Image messages to go along with Wikipedia:Template messages.

Proposal 6: If image placeholder use is retained under proposal 1 above, then each Wikipedia image placeholder should be coded to warn of their misuse when used outside of an Infobox.

[edit]

If the use of placeholder images in article space is retained, then code should be added to each placeholder at Category:Wikipedia image placeholders to warn that its use is restricted to be inside an infobox template.

  • Agree (as proposer). The assumption appears to be that all 96 image placeholders are being used in infobox template. To help insure that, a warning system should be implemented to let the poster know that such image should only be used inside an infobox template. {{Check talk}} is an example warning system for talk page templates, and a {{Check infobox}} warning message may be developed to display and encourage people to use the image placeholder only within infoboxes. This isn't posible. You can't add code to images in that way.Geni 17:49, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Geni - I can't see a practical way to code this. Guroadrunner (talk) 06:43, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
