Discussion
[edit]You are not required to have a bot account to read-only in small quantities. Do you require a bot flag for highapilimits? — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 15:05, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Note that, depending on how real-time this is intended to be, the recent changes feed at #en.wikipedia might be a better choice than polling watchlist. Anomie⚔ 15:43, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Any answer to the above questions? Anomie⚔ 02:43, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- This bot is not in operation now. I created a different, non-bot account to handle the watchlist monitoring and its working well (see resultant twitter feed at http://twitter.com/#!/GeneWikiPulse). I would like to keep this account for future use, but if that is against policy I can delete the account for now. Let know if I should delete it. Thanks. - There's no problem with keeping the account, and it's not really possible to delete an account anyway. We'll just mark this as "Withdrawn", and if you ever want to request approval for a new task just create Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/genewikibot 2.
