[edit]A bot cannot operate itself. Please use your regular user account for all non-bot edits, such as edits to this BRFA. Also, please clarify "research workload": what exactly do you intend for this bot to do? Anomie⚔ 04:34, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. We want to use this bot to generate realistic research workload through Wikipedia. Our on-going research project is about the low-power, wireless active gateway. For this project, one important application we support is the group collaborative application (like the on-line collaborative office software). The workload generated through Wikipedia would be an ideal and realistic workload for such application and our research. --Urcs voyage (talk) 23:14, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Please put the name of the bot operator in the above request, and describe in detail what the bot would do, including what pages it would operate on. All edits made by people and bots should be on the basis of assisting the encyclopedia, and generally only experienced editors should operate a bot because a good understanding of the basics is required. - I already use Wikipedia on a mobile device and it works quite well. I'm not sure what kind of "research" you want to do here, but it's sounding more and more like the toolserver would be better suited for your request. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 04:30, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Or even better, set up a private wiki somewhere (you can load in a dump of Wikipedia, if you can find one) and use that. Anomie⚔ 05:43, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Denied. Better done with a private wiki and a database dump. Anomie⚔ 02:38, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
