Function overview: Rotate TFD logs and create new TFD pages

Exclusion compliant (Y/N): not required
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y
Function details: This bot will rotate the TFD logs and create new discussion pages. Note that this is an "exact duplicate" of a function performed by Zorglbot, but Zorglbot is periodically down (see, for example, here), and my bot would act as a backup. I am confident that the two bots will not clash, so long as I run mine a minute or two after midnight GMT. During the latest time change, Zorglbot was running about an hour late, and did nothing if someone rotated the logs before it ran. Similarly, I have tested my script, and it will do nothing if someone has already rotated the logs for it. I have been manually running the bot script under my Plasticspork account for the past year, whenever Zorglbot is down, and have had no issues. I will be happy to post the script as a subpage of my SporkBot account.

[edit]Can you give an example of what the rotation entails? - Jarry1250 [Who? Discuss.] 22:38, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- See the links directly above, or check the page history for WP:Templates for discussion (edits by Zorglbot or ones with 'rotate' in the summary), or see [1] and [2]. Basically, it means moving one log-page transclusion down a section, and adding a new log-page transclusion. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 00:12, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Oh, right. That's what those links were :) Approved for trial (5 days' worth). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. (they don't have to be consecutive). - Jarry1250 [Who? Discuss.] 11:42, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- The moment I was approved, Zorglbot came back online, so my bot has been doing nothing everyday with regard to this task. I may nudge the cron job up a bit to make it fire a few seconds before Zorglbot runs, just to show that it works. However, it's really not a big deal, so long as Zorglbot is operating. The whole point was to just act as a backup. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 04:52, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Okay, I nudged it up a minute on a few occasions to demonstrate that (1) it is indeed working and (2) that there is no conflict between running both bots at the same time, with mine primarily running as a backup. I will nudge it back a minute if this is approved. The approved five days of edits can be found in the history for Wikipedia:Templates for discussion. I can provide specific links if desired. Thanks!
