Discussion
[edit]Hi there, Sahimac. As you know, the bot was blocked because you were running it without approval. No big deal; it's both excusable and understandable considering you come from another wiki that has different bot rules. Let's talk about your tasks. The welcome task can't be done, unfortunately – see this helpful page for information why, but interwiki links are definitely possible. Have you familiarized yourself the local bot policy, especially the section on interwiki links? What wikis will you be linking from, and what namespaces will you be editing? I look forward to hearing from you. — The Earwig (talk) 04:08, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi, Yes, I'm familiar with robot policies, and I read more in that area which you said. I hope to have the necessary ability in managing the bot.
- I'm going to edit in main, category, and template namespaces, and my activity is almost in all wikis, but mostly from Persian wiki to English and vice versa.sahim (talk) 09:39, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- You do not seem to have read and understood the section on interwiki links, or you would not be intending to run in the template namespace with interwiki.py. This does not give me confidence that you will be a contentious bot operator and will be able to appropriately respond to any complaints. Anomie⚔ 16:53, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- but I was told that: (Interwiki bots should not run unsupervised in Template namespace unless specifically designed to run on templates.) Had read. However, I am waiting.sahim (talk) 18:24, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Exactly. And it also says "As of May 2009, the standard interwiki module in pywikipedia does not meet these requirements". Which means you may not run interwiki.py in the Template namespace, as interwiki.py is not specifically designed to run on templates. Anomie⚔ 20:10, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
well,Can be said:{I'm going to edit in main, category, [and template( And ,So we can say that: Using Python language or I will not use patterns from space or I delete this section)] namespaces, and my activity is almost in all wikis, but mostly from Persian wiki to English and vice versa.}== Now will result without Python language(No standard pywikipedia): (I'm going to edit in main, category namespaces, and my activity is almost in all wikis, but mostly from Persian wiki to English and vice versa.).Finally ,What is your opinion now? this good or bad?--sahim (talk) 00:08, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Changed to Standard pywikipedia AND Full python language For Removing ambiguity!sahim (talk) 07:28, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- According to the above, you expect to edit 46 pages. Why is a bot needed? Johnuniq (talk) 10:21, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- To ease the creation of the interwiki And Nothing else matters.sahim (talk) 11:08, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I see that you now intend to write your own interwiki code that will correctly handle templates. Please post this code so it may be reviewed. Anomie⚔ 17:13, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- please look see!--sahim (talk) 07:21, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- There is some serious confusion here because the page that you link to contains the standard (not modified) interwiki.py from Pywikipediabot. Johnuniq (talk) 10:53, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, this is interwiki.py for interwiki in all parts of the wiki.Be sure, the other does not problem in creat interwiki exist. it is "nightly wikipedia" in metawiki And the Python language.sahim (talk) 20:20, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I see no reason to prolong this. The proposed bot seems unsuitable per Anomie's comments above regarding usage for templates. When asked for the source for "your own interwiki code that will correctly handle templates", the operator posted the unchanged interwiki.py with no indication that it is an unpatched duplicate, nor any understanding of how confusing it would be for people reviewing this, not to mention pointless. Whatever the reason, it is clear that this bot is not sufficiently justified and the operator is not able to suitably communicate on English Wikipedia. - Why say, I do not have the ability to run the robot? The first time I told Pywikipedia and Python languages. What is the other problem? I Python language - unless otherwise no part of the Python language? Otherwise use the problem for python language? If not, then what other problem? . I'd do all the things that I create interwiki, not something else. Please Take a look here to see the contributions to the robot what was in the Persian Wikipedia (create more interwiki). I guarantee that I will not do wrong - otherwise the robot close forever If the wrong! . However, final decisions with your managers in wiki English ,anyway thank you will answer that.sahim (talk) 03:50, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Denied. Johnuniq's analysis above saves me having to write the same thing. Anomie⚔ 12:04, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
