Function Details: This does highway tasks such as fixing disambiguations, finding and replacing and adding templates, article assessment, all that fun stuff. AWB and pywikipedia will be used in automated mode as it takes too much time to make the 10000+ edit backlogged edits for teh roads area.

The request is too broad. You seem basically to be asking to do whatever you fancy with AWB or Python. Please restrict the application to one specific task and one technology. There shouldn't be any difficulty getting you approved quickly, but you're not getting a licence to do any ole thang :) --kingboyk 01:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll limit this account to AWB. However, as this bot has already been approved and flagged, I do not see the need to specify specific tasks, primarily because these are similar tasks that I asked for approval for already. It doesn't show as flagged in the log. Can you point me to the prior approval?

An added note, if tasks are similar to ones already approved, then this is an appropriate forum and will generally receive quick approval. That said, I see the bot has been operating for some time, and I cannot find any approval. That said, the bot has been running since November 6, 2005, so that may explain the log issue. Indeed. "There shouldn't be any difficulty getting you approved quickly, but you're not getting a licence to do any ole thang". We can get this approved quickly if the request is targetted and reasonable, but the recent betacommand episode proves that having a carte blanche bot licence is not a good idea. --kingboyk 14:22, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for your frustration, but there have been some issues with bots being way-off task upsetting people. That being said Trial Approved for the Wikipedia:USRD/A tagging function. Please limit your trial to <500 edits and report back. Approved for trial. Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete.

I see a number of problems with the tagging.

  1. How will you protect against things like this and this?
  2. How about tagging talk pages of redirects? [3]
  3. How are you tagging articles as needing maps? [4] What algorithm is being used to determine if a map is in the article?

No, as the task has already been completed and done. I've found the plugin to be too slow, at least on my computer, so what I did is I AWB'ed the generic WP tag on there and tehn went back and assessed on my own. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 21:57, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
