Operator: Crashdoom (talk · contribs)
Time filed: 11:56, Thursday November 15, 2012 (UTC)
Automatic or Manual: Automatic Supervised: IRC operation and logging
Programming language(s): PHP
Source code available: Using ClueBot classes, remainder is custom integration.
Function overview: Manage backlog notifications, report content information and notices to reported users at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Edit_warring
Edit period(s): Continuous - 10 minute scanning intervals
Estimated number of pages affected: Currently only Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Edit_warring would be edited, with a few one-time edits being made on user talk pages for notifications regarding reports.
Exclusion compliant (Y/N): Emergency shut-off compliant
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Yes
Function details: The bot will work by regularly checking Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Edit_warring for new reports and count them as per their result, currently only blank (incomplete) results will count towards a backlog. The bot will also notify the reported users that they have been listed on the noticeboard and inform them of what it means and how to go about replying to/contesting the report. Finally, the bot will mark reports as a clerk by scanning the reported user's contribution logs to detect if there have been at least three reverts on an article within the last 24 hours.
Function three will be performed by both checking users edits for keywords in the edit summary (See below), these will be configurable by WP:BAG and administrators via the bot's config page which will be located at User:NekoBot/Config.
- "Undid revision"
- "Reverted"
- "rv "
Task list:
- Notifying reported editors
- Backlog notifications
- Adding various information templates (User blocked, information relating to other Administrator noticeboards such as WP:UAA, WP:SPI, WP:AIV)
- Clerk tasks, for example: automated detection of edit warring at the time of report
Discussion
[edit]- Has there been a discussion about implementing automated clerking for AN3? I checked Wikipedia talk:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring but didn't see anything. Legoktm (talk) 13:19, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I thought I re-submitted the notice regarding the bot to AN3, the bot was previously a clerk on the noticeboard but was since revoked after a technical malfunction, I will submit a notice linking to this page and requesting comments from fellow editors + Crashdoom Talk 13:32, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Ah, I missed that. I think a notice that you're planning on re-starting the bot would be helpful. Thanks, Legoktm (talk) 13:35, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I've submitted a notice detailing the tasks to the talk page and also added them to a numbered list on the original discussion here. Thanks for reminding me :) + Crashdoom Talk 13:46, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I have created templates the bot will use for clerical tasks in accordance with tasks three and four located at User:NekoBot/AN3. The notification template remains unchanged at User:NekoBot/3RRAttn. Is there anything that should be added or changed in terms of wording or additional clerical notifications and tasks that the bot should perform? It was mentioned before about checking block logs by a member of BAG to see if the user was blocked, but I am unsure if this should be factored into the clerical tasks or not. + Crashdoom Talk 14:47, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm inclined to trial as it seems non-controversial. I do suspect though that you could scan it once an hour if every 10 minutes proves too frequent. MBisanz talk 07:20, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Depending on the frequency of the edits to WP:AN3, I can increase/decrease it as needed. I'll take note through testing and generic monitoring through my own account. + Crashdoom Talk 00:05, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Approved for trial (7 days). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. MBisanz talk 04:25, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- {{BAGAssistanceNeeded}} If it's okay, I'm still doing a few finishing touches and testing on a local copy of WP:AN3, it'll be a day or so before I begin testing to make sure there's no issues. + Crashdoom Talk 09:19, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't quite understand what assistance you are requesting? — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 12:07, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- With the bot being approved for trial, it'll take me a few days into that given trial before I can put it up for live testing as it work on a few last things in accordance with additional features from the original request that I made. Is it okay to postpone the 7 days until the last features are implemented in a few days? + Crashdoom Talk 12:21, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Of course, take as long as you need. — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 12:53, 19 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
