Operator: Mr.Z-man
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic
Programming Language(s): Python
Source code available: Soon
Function Overview: Replacement for BAGBot, which seems to be dead
Edit period(s): Every hour
Estimated number of pages affected: 1 (plus user notifications)
Exclusion compliant (Y/N): Y
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y
Function Details: This is mostly a replacement for BAGBot, though not a full clone. I can't find ST47's source, so this is a rewrite based on observation. I believe BAGBot watched the RC feed for edits to trigger an update, this will just run hourly. The current code is also missing (at least) 1 feature; it doesn't currently notify users when their request is approved/denied. Though this may change in the future. Currently it only sends notifications for {{OperatorAssistanceNeeded}} requests. Mr.Z-man 05:25, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion
[edit]I did a couple tests in my userspace of the table generating code at User:Mr.Z-man/t3. Mr.Z-man 05:29, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- It'd be great to have this back again, and I wouldn't mind not having it notify users, since I often go on a different language Wiki for interwiki bots, and the bot doesn't identify that. I'll go ahead and notify ST47, do you plan to have this take over permanently, or just run it while BAGBot is down (which seems like most of the time unfortunately)? - Kingpin13 (talk) 05:34, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Either one, it doesn't really matter to me. ST47 hasn't edited in more than a month, so I figured I might as well go ahead and file this. Mr.Z-man 05:37, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- This seems straight-forward, experienced bot operator who is willing to be flexible, the bot is needed, BAG members can point out issues as they occur, bot operator appears to respond immediately to issues with his bots. - -69.225.5.4 (talk) 05:45, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Approved for trial (3 days). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Feel free to edit the currently used template. Let's just see if there's any major issues first. After that this should be good to go - Kingpin13 (talk) 05:58, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- How is this coming along? - Kingpin13 (talk) 10:37, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I haven't had much time to work on this, should hopefully start the trial this weekend. Mr.Z-man 14:07, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I was just about to start running it when I noticed BAGBot has started editing again. Mr.Z-man 05:56, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Although it doesn't seem to be working perfectly; it says no bag member has commented on WP:Bots/Requests for approval/ContentCreationBOT, but you for one have, and ST47 clearly can not respond to inquires resulting from the bot's operation promptly. So maybe it would be better if this bot does just take over? I'll email ST47, but he doesn't appear to be active anymore. Unless he has an objection, then it should be fine for this to take over, would you be okay with that? - Kingpin13 (talk) 09:48, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Looks like BAGbot is back down anyway. If you're ready to do a trial now would be a good time, since the bots won't get in each other's way. Or have you already done a trial? Still no reply from ST47. - Kingpin13 (talk) 07:34, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Withdrawn by operator. - It really doesn't look like I'm going to have much time to work on this anytime soon. If anyone wants the code I've written so far, let me know on my talk page (most of it was thrown together in a hurry and isn't especially good). Mr.Z-man 21:59, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
