Discussion
[edit]Approved for trial (50 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Please read the local bot policy, especially the section on interwiki linking, before starting the trial. - EdoDodo talk 18:08, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Trial complete.--Movses (talk) 04:13, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I note you include edits to templates. I am no interwiki expert, nor an expert on how pywikipedia deals with /Documentation subpages, but given that it can be tricky, maybe you could advise, Movses? Are appropriate checks in place? - Jarry1250 [Who? Discuss.] 19:13, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Erm, I can understand your question. I have run the bot with parameter "-ns:0,4,6,8,10,12,14,100", which said bot to use that namespaces:
#wgNamespaceIds={"media": -2, "special": -1, "": 0, "talk": 1, "user": 2, "user_talk": 3, "wikipedia": 4, "wikipedia_talk": 5, "file": 6, "file_talk": 7, "mediawiki": 8, "mediawiki_talk": 9, "template": 10, "template_talk": 11, "help": 12, "help_talk": 13, "category": 14, "category_talk": 15, "portal": 100, "portal_talk": 101, "wp": 4, "wt": 5, "image": 6, "image_talk": 7},
- I have skipped the "User" namespace, but have touched Main, Wikipedia, File, Mediawiki, Template, Help, Category, Portal. --Movses-bot (talk) 08:59, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- AFAIK, interwiki.py does not reliably handle templates here. Many Wikipedia-space pages include their interwikis in a template, it may not handle these correctly either. I would suggest just running it on Main, Help, Category, Portal. (Running on File and MediaWiki seems somewhat pointless). Mr.Z-man 04:22, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- OK, changed to 0,14,100 (Main, Category, Portal) only. --Movses (talk) 13:24, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why are you continuing to run the bot over 50 trial edits? — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 17:27, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Erm, because it's just interwiki edits without any incorrect actions. I think that interwiki edits are not harmfull. --Movses (talk) 18:10, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- WP:BOTPOL: "Operation of unapproved bots, or use of approved bots in unapproved ways outside their conditions of operation, is prohibited."
- In any case, what interwiki.py options are you using? — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 18:17, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- In auto mode - "interwiki.py -ns:0,14,100", in manual mode, when I know, that interwikis are correct in some article - "interwiki.py -localright". --Movses (talk) 19:42, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
