Discussion
[edit]Unfortunately, current consensus on en is that bots shouldn't be used to welcome users, so you'll want to strike this from your details. The other bits look standard though, nothing controversial. - Jarry1250 (t, c, rfa) 09:24, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. This function disabled. Mondalor (talk) 09:29, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm interested in "renames... articles", categories I can understand, but I don't quite follow for articlespace. Is that what you indtended to put? - Jarry1250 (t, c, rfa) 10:59, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- No, it is not.
- Suppose we have an article X. I would like to create an article Y with the same content as article X. Then I just rename X to Y. Are you understand me now? (I am not very well know English language, I hope I speak clearly) Mondalor (talk) 11:31, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about "renames categories and articles"; are you actually familiar enough with the English Wikipedia to know when categories and articles need renaming? At this time, I'd support interwiki.py with the standard "no templates" restriction, but nothing else. Anomie⚔ 11:36, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Renaming the article is staging redirect from one article to another. I will try to rename the article itself only when absolutely necessary. The main bot's work is implement interwikifikation. Mondalor (talk) 11:47, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- The interwiki is good, and renaming categories is good if it's a non-controversial rename or there's clear consensus. But I wouldn't feel comfortable giving a bot permission to rename articles whenever the bot-operator feels like it, especially if the bot-operator is relatively new to the English Wikipedia. – Quadell (talk) 12:10, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Judging whether a rename is non-controversial or clear consensus can be tricky, and is not something I would want to trust to someone very new to the English Wikipedia. Anomie⚔ 12:19, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I will rename categories, as well as articles, in case of apparent consensus. At the very least, I am ready to renounce the use of this script. Mondalor (talk) 12:21, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
