Operator: Melsaran
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic
Programming Language(s): AutoWikiBrowser
Function Summary: Fix links to deleted redirects
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): When needed
Edit rate requested: I will place the interval at one second. It will do approximately 6 edits a minute, if I'm not mistaken, because AWB needs some time to do the changes.
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): N
Function Details: This bot will fix links to redirects that have been deleted by the redirects for deletion process. It has been requested on Wikipedia talk:RFD that a bot do this in the future, to save work for the closing admins. See for example Special:Whatlinkshere/BJAODN.

[edit]Fix links? Do you mean "de-link"? ~ Wikihermit 14:40, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Sometimes I will de-link, but when cross-namespace redirects get deleted I will replace the link. For example, the redirect BJAODN was recently deleted as a cross-namespace redirect, but it still has hundreds of incoming links. I plan to replace every occurrence of BJAODN with BJAODN. Melsaran (talk) 14:42, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Ah, okay. You'll just use AWB's "find and replace" I'm assuming. Looks good then. ~ Wikihermit 14:53, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes. I tried to do it manually with AWB a while ago, and it worked fine. A bot would do it much faster. Melsaran (talk) 15:31, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- If your interested in python, m:replace.py can work for the replace part, it's faster then AWB and takes up less memory IMO. ~ Wikihermit 19:58, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm not really sure how that works, I'll stick with AWB :) Melsaran (talk) 20:20, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Not too hard, I'll help if you'd like :-). ~ Wikihermit 20:21, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The trial looks good. Just one more question: if you encounter a link such as this
, is your bot prepared to deal with that? —METS501 (talk) 20:22, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, it'll replace it with
this
. It currently replacedBJAODN
withBJAODN
, and[[BJAODN|
with[[WP:BJAODN|
