Operator: Nmadhubala
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Manually assisted.
Programming Language(s): AWB.
Function Summary: General fixes using AWB.
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): 2-4 times a week, up to 1 hr each time.
Edit rate requested: 3-5 per minute
Already has a bot flag (Y/N):
Function Details: I have been using AWB with my regular account for a couple of weeks now for general fixes like typo fixing, wikification, tagging articles etc. Because of the number of edits involved, I thought it is better to create a bot account for using AWB. As of now, I intend to use this bot for very basic/minor changes using AWB. I might later expand to using this bot for adding templates to India-related articles, using it while assessing the articles etc.
Discussion
[edit]- If all you want to do is edit with AWB as before, but with a different account, just create the new account and go ahead and use it. No approval is needed. If on the other hand, you want to run AWB as a bot in an automated fashion, we need to know specifically what tasks you want to do. Hope that helps. --kingboyk 00:27, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Since he wants to edit at greater than 2 edits/minute, wouldn't he need a bot flag?--Dycedarg ж 20:20, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- The two edits per minute rule is for unapproved bots running automatically (but supervised) in trials. If a user is manually checking and approving each edit, using AWB for example, the bot falls under the Assisted bots part of policy, for which a bot falg is not usually needed. I believe that User:The Transhumanist has a similar second account for the purposes of doing manual AWB tasks - bot approval is only needed where the bot will to a particular task in a fully automated fashion, so we'll be able to determine whether this bot needs approval or not when the operator replies :). - Well, this bot will be used to perform AWB tasks, and I will be manually checking and approving the edits. Btw, I'm a she! :) --Madhu 06:01, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedily Approved. Might as well give you a flag, too, because it saves the RC partrollers some work. —METS501 (talk) 00:38, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
