Discussion
[edit]Comment: Usually, running a bot in userspace does not need approval, however as I have a history of sockpuppetry, I'd also like to setup an edit filter that would disallow editing from the bot besides the pages it needs to edit or create. -- LemonSlushie 🍋 (talk) (edits) 20:46, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Denied. This is not necessary, if the only thing you want to do is edit your own userpage and usertalk, fairly infrequently, just use your own account. Feel free to do it via the API if you want to, you can create BotPasswords for yourself as needed. Also, we would never consume abuse filter conditions just to stop you from making edits you don't want to make. — xaosflux Talk 23:32, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Alternatively, you could use your alt-account for this purpose already - and no BRFA is needed. We certainly would not be issuing a bot flag in either case. — xaosflux Talk 23:34, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
