Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic (unsupervised)
Programming Language(s): PHP
Function Overview: Write the results of a cronjob PHP script on the Toolserver to a subpage of User:JaGa.
Edit period(s): One edit per hour.
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): N
Function Details: I run scripts on the Toolserver that keep track of who's repaired the most disambiguation pages with links in a given month. I would like to include the "leaderboard" in the Disambiguation pages with links project page instead of requiring a user to leave the wiki to see how they're doing. My goal is to create a bot that writes the top five participants to User:JaGa/Short leaderboard, which I would then include in the project page (along with a "purge the page cache" link).

[edit]You don't need approval for this task, as long as it is only editing your user space and running under a user account that does not include "bot" in the name. You will need approval if you decide to move it to project space. In any case, remember to go easy with your scripted edits when the server's overloaded. - Ah, OK. So do I need to change the name of the account, take "Bot" out of it? --JaGatalk 01:03, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I had assumed that any unapproved bot accounts with bot in the name would be blocked, but I was wrong. You'll be fine running JaGaBot, as long as you clearly state on its user page that it is running unapproved, restricted to editing your user space only. - Excellent! Thanks. --JaGatalk 02:30, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
