Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Initially supervised; if bot approved w/o any problems with edits, automatic, but if there are problems with edits made, will be supervised
Programming language(s): AutoWikiBrowser
Source code available: AWB defaults
Function overview:' Adds non-breaking spaces to dates where needed per MOS:NBSP
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): ?
Edit period(s): Once daily/when possible
Estimated number of pages affected: Based on a sampling of 20 random pages (which may give a very inaccurate view), 40% of enwp pages, or around 1.5 million pages(!)
Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): Yes (AWB settings)
Already has a bot flag (Yes/No): No
Function details: For example, in replacing dates that need nbsps, the bot will only replace the date and month; for now, it won't add nbsps to the year, as I think that should be a separate task:
22 April 2012
→22 April 2012
April 22, 2012
→April 22, 2012
April 22
→April 22
22 April
→22 April

[edit]- Policy backed change, but with hardly any change to the actual page and thousands of edits being made, I'm worried this may be a case of WP:COSMETICBOT - where it should only be made with another substantial change. This task may be included in the AWB general fixes; is it best to leave it there or let you have a task making thousands of edits where there is little difference afterwards? - Agreed. Far to cosmetic a task to be approved as a bot's only task. I move that this request be denied. --Chris 15:42, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- k, can this be withdrawn? Thanks. hf24 20:51, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
