Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic
Programming Language(s): Perl
Function Overview: Keep Wikipedia:Dead external links up to date
Edit period(s): at most once per database dump
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y
Function Details: Wikipedia:Dead external links is horribly out of date and hard to use. As such, it is currently listed as being an inactive Wikipedia project. I am planning on reviving the project by having my bot scan the database dump and check every link.
The dead links it finds will be uploaded to sub pages of Wikipedia:Dead external links in an easy to read/use format. Its hard to says exactly how many pages will be needed to divide the content into easy to use chunks, but I'd estimate it'd be a couple hundred. These pages would then be bot updated as needed, but no more often than once per database dump and probably less. No other pages will be read or modified for this task. --ThaddeusB (talk) 20:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]- Read from a dump and write to a single Wikiproject page? Looks pretty uncontroversial to me. – Quadell (talk) 21:01, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
