Discussion
[edit]This a good bot.— Preceding unsigned comment added by David Pro (talk • contribs)
- Couple of notes, I had to fix the template on this page for this bot, and the userpage for this bot was a copy of User:VoABot II's page with the username changed (see [1]). Kesac 15:54, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- What programming language? ~ Wikihermit 15:56, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have blanked User:DP Bot, except for {{emergency-bot-shutoff}} and {{bot}}, as a blatant GFDL violation (no attribution to Voice of All). I'm trying to assume good faith here and posit that the operator wants to "clone" VoABot II, an accepted practice, but given the malformed nature of this BRFA and the violation on the bot's user page, I'd say he's not qualified. — madman bum and angel 16:51, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Would sound so. That and the user put in the discussion "This is a good bot." And didnt even sign it properly... Reedy Boy 20:51, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- It also doesnt have a bot flag as the entry suggested. Changed Reedy Boy 20:52, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this user's heart is in the right place, but I've reviewed his contributions and he seems to have a fairly poor technical grasp of how the wiki works, even though he's working hard. This makes me a bit worried that he might not have yet what it needs to run a bot. — Coren (talk) 22:45, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Could you please provide what framework or programming languages you are writing it in, and exactly how it will detect vandalism, and how it will know what titles are inappropriate? How will it handle moves that were appropriate, but to titles that would be considered inappropriate on other articles? Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 23:10, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Please specify the needed edit rate. — xaosflux Talk 01:51, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Will this bot do anything other then revert? (e.g. issue user warnings?) — xaosflux Talk 01:51, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Will source be available? How does it distinguish vandal page moves? --Android Mouse 02:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- This bot does some tasks similar to the ones by VoABot II, with the exception of distinguish vandal page moves. David Pro 21:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Could you provide exact details of how it will do it? If you haven't actually written the bot yourself, you want Wikipedia:BOTREQ, otherwise please provide exact regexes, keywords, or source code. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 22:18, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
