Agenda
[edit]- Bob Cummings introduces himself: advisory board member for the PPI, and has a general interest in using open educational resources in the classroom. Taught Wikipedia in the past, and wrote a book about the topic. In the writing community, using Wikipedia is still a pretty new idea. He is here to observe and learn what we're up to.
- Cummings has been trying to get public policy professors on his campus on board for the PPI, but it has been hard to get any traction. Cheryl reports similar difficulty on her campus. Perhaps a critical mass of public policy professors is necessary.
- Campus Ambassador recruitment
- Updates
- Cheryl:
- Indiana Campus Ambassadors have been busy trying to recruit
- At Michigan State, things have been challenging, just one person with a positive response so far.
- Looking for Wikipedians by alma mater have been a good way to find people.
- Pretty well overall: approximately 4 people from Cheryl's schools
- Alex
- JMU recruiting is doing "pretty well", with enough potential ambassadors to support two classes
- Western Carolina: four responses from emails to groups on the campus
- Contacting the honors program there worked really well; the group contact forward Alex's invitation.
- Annie:
- Lots of Berkeley responses from the geonotice, plus Max and Matt from the "Politics of Piracy" class want to be Campus Ambassadors.
- Kentucky: Honors College approach worked well.
- Fletcher:
- One cantact of a professor at Bard College, and he will be
- Trying out OTRS for handling campus ambassador applications
- We've been generally confused by OTRS so far. Hopefully it won't be too hard to pick up.
- Since this is individual-based and not geared to collaborative work, it will be a challenge to learn to avoid closing or owning threads accidentally.
- We will play around with it for another week to see if we can make it work.
- Annie will get all applications that we get for the next couple weeks cc'ed to her
- centralized repos for applications
- Online Ambassador selection process
- Reported that the general response was good from the community
- Sage responded to some concerns by SSilver, changing the questionnaire
