Questions:
[edit]Have you read the AMA FAQ?
- Answer:
Yes, I have read it, and Pedant's informal FAQ.
How would you describe the nature of this dispute? (policy violation, content dispute, personal attack, other)
- Answer:
Personal attacks, based on not so much a dispute as to content, but to organization, relating to a sense of possiveness over the pages in question.
What methods of Dispute Resolution have you tried so far? If you can, please provide wikilinks so that the Advocate looking over this case can see what you have done.
- Answer:
I've tried to be civil and polite to the users, sought further comment from elsewhere, and otherwise avoided getting upset.
What do you expect to get from Advocacy?
- Answer:
Perhaps help in finding someone outside the situation who could speak to the offending users, and help them realize that their behavior isn't conducive to a good Wikipedia experience. Failing that, some advice on how else to proceed.
Summary:
[edit]Well, I first came upon the situation in December of 2006 when a person submitted a split of the Avatar the Last Airbender episodes pages to AfD. I recognized some troublesome language in their arguments for deletion, found that other editors had previously expressed such concerns before, and so decided to participate further, and trying to get some civility into the discussion, and a discussion on the nature of the pages for Avatar characters. Unfortunately, this hostility has not been reduced, but intensified, and this recent comment has troubled me enough that I felt I should seek some help, and this seemed to be the best place I'm still being patient, but I don't think that the attitude expressed indicates that I can do much myself. Note, there may be other editors involved, but I'm not entirely sure if I should include them or not.
