19th Amendment (Virtual) Edit-a-thon
- Help us increase coverage of the 19th Amendment and women in the suffrage movement on Wikipedia by making 19 edits during the month of August.
- This year marks 100 years since the adoption of the 19th Amendment which gave some American women the right to vote. Help us close the gap in articles about the 19th Amendment and women's role in the suffrage movement. Editing will be open throughout the month of August with Zoom training / office hours every Tuesday & Thursday from 11:30am - 1:00pm Eastern in August!
- Wikipedia is an openly editable resource, meaning that you can improve the quality and accuracy of Wikipedia entries. As one of the web’s most visited reference sites, Wikipedia serves as a starting point for many individuals looking to learn about art, history, and science.
- During this training, attendees of all experience levels will learn the basics of how to edit Wikipedia by updating articles related to the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. We're asking editors to make 19 edits around the 19th Amendment throughout the month of August.
- This event is planned in conjunction with the Smithsonian American Women's Initiative, a multiyear undertaking to document, research, collect, display, and share the history of women in the United States. It is planned in partnership with the National Archives, the Library of Congress, and Wikimedia DC.
