Volvarina avenella is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Marginellidae, the margin snails.[1]
Taxonomy
[edit]Dall considered Marginella avenella a synonym of Marginella succinea Conrad, 1846 (now considered a synonym of Prunum succineum (Conrad, 1846) ). These are actually two different species. He recognized this mistake afterwards. [2] [3]
Description
[edit]This species occurs in the Gulf of Mexico.
Distribution
[edit]Volvarina avenella can be found in Caribbean waters, ranging from the Florida Keys to Cuba.[4]
