Van Ritshie (1943 or 1944 - November 3, 2024) was an American VoiceOver artist and radio host.
Early life and education
[edit]In 1962, Ritshie graduated from Queensborough Community College with a communications degree.[1]
Career

[edit]Beginning in January 1995,[1] Ritshie voiced the announcements for Metro-North and LIRR.[2][3]
Ritshie provided voice over for "Earthquake: The Big One", a ride at Universal Studios Florida which opened in 1990 and remained in operation until 2002.[4]
Between 2005 and 2008, Ritshie was the official image voice for the Golf Channel's coverage of the PGA Tour.[1]
Radio
[edit]Ritshie was a radio DJ in the Poughkeepsie area for almost 30 years.[4] He worked at WRNQ as their morning show host from 1989 to 2004 and at WGNY from 2009 to 2017. In March 2017, he began hosting the morning show at WALL in Middletown, Orange County.[1]
Personal life
[edit]Ritshie was from Astoria, Queens, but was "a longtime Poughkeepsie resident". He was married and had three children. He died on November 3, 2024 in Poughkeepsie following a brief illness. He was 80.[4][5]
