Prof Garcia's Comments

[edit]

This is EXCELLENT, Zonya! Wow! I think that you have a great list of pieces to read and consider already. Well done. You will definitely want to look at the work of Pierre Bourdieu: he talks a lot about how food and social class mix. Check out his book, Distinction. It is a hard book, so maybe read what other people have written about it. Also, if you want to look at food, take a look at Michaela DeSoucey's book, Contested Tastes. Actually, take a look at her academic articles (look her up and take a look at her CV for the citations) for a quick read of her argument. But she talks a lot about Foie Gras (if you don't know what that is, look it up! It's disgusting!) and how food links with social class. Also take a look at David Brooks' book, Bobos in Paradise. There might be useful stuff in there about food and social class as well. Best of luck! You're off to an excellent start. =) Alfgarciamora (talk) 13:29, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Week 6: You continue to impress me, Zonya. Keep up the great work! Don't worry about adding pictures for now: it seems to really be messing up your sandbox page. For now, just focus on the information you are drawing from your sources. Another book I think you should check out is called McDonaldization of Society. There is good stuff in there about food and society. Keep it up! Alfgarciamora (talk) 12:40, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Week 7: You are still doing great, Zonya. I highly recommend, however, that you include information on Bourdieu on your page. It will be tough to read him directly, so look for secondary literature that explains what Bourdieu says about food, etc. Keep up the great work! @Zmyer002: Alfgarciamora (talk) 13:56, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Zmyer002: Week 9: Well done with everything, Zonya! I think that for now, you just have to provide a bit more of the sociology behind what you are writing. You should look up the theories on food consumption (which can be found in Bourdieu, DeSoucey, etc) and add this content to your mainpage. As you finish up with that, make sure you structure your page like other well-edited Wiki pages. Your language should be more encyclopedic and your structure of the page should fit in with the larger Wiki style. Overall, however, you are doing an exceptional job. I commend you for a job well done! =) Alfgarciamora (talk) 20:03, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Hey, Zonya. How did you create the sections in your sandbox? Shortieex (talk) 22:00, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Shortieex: Hi, Samaria. Are you referring to the table of contents? If so, once you have at least 4 headers, it'll automatically produce a table for you. Zmyer002 (talk) 19:30, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Zmyer002 Thank you for your help! Shortieex (talk) 16:15, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
