Trout Quintet
[edit]It is in G major. 2600:1702:2B0:3070:996D:F4E0:7F6C:C5DD (talk) 02:05, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- It is definitely not. Zingarese (talk) 02:06, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
British literature
[edit]Hi Zingarese, You have tagged British literature as a "vital article". Please note that this article and English literature (a "vital article" level 3) duplicate each other to a considerable degree and should be merged–they are almost identical. [1]. This would enable improvements to be made to one article instead of two! Rwood128 (talk) 20:06, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your message! Someone had listed the British literature article on Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/Arts; it wasn't me, but they didn't tag the article itself. I have just been going around and adding
{{Vital article}}
templates to the talk pages of articles that are missing them. In any case, thank you for letting me know about this significant proposal, and I will comment on the matter as soon as I get the chance! Regards, Zingarese (talk) 23:58, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
Western Wall related to art
[edit]I saw you tagged the Western Wall article as a vital article related to art? Why, and where was that decided? Debresser (talk) 19:06, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
- The article was listed on Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/Arts. I was not the person who listed it, and I am sorry to say that I couldn’t tell you exactly who did. I have just been going around tagging the talk pages of articles on said list that are missing the
{{Vital article}}
template, of which there were several hundred. Zingarese (talk) 21:07, 9 June 2018 (UTC)- After having a look at Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/Arts., I understand that apparently architecture is considered art. Thanks. Debresser (talk) 07:45, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
VA template
[edit]Great job adding these....but would it be posible that it's placed below the talk template that explains the rules of the page. Its a bit more vital that readers see the how to stuff related to the page before project stuff. Thank you.--Moxy (talk) 05:55, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- I will try. I am not exactly sure how to do that. I use wp:AutoWikiBrowser which saves a lot of time, especially with so many articles. Regards, Zingarese (talk) 06:13, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- Let me link this for you WP:TALKORDER.
- I understand. I am just not sure how to get the vital article template anywhere else but the very top of the page. I am quite new to the program. I will do my best to investigate before making further Va template additions. Best Zingarese (talk) 06:36, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- Let me link this for you WP:TALKORDER.
- I agree with Moxy that it would be both more convenient and more accepted practice to have these templates at the bottom of the other talkpage templates. Debresser (talk) 07:46, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Moxy: @Debresser: I was able to work it out and I should be adding the templates below {{talk header}} or {{GA}}. Regards, Zingarese (talk) 23:43, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for June 10
[edit]An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Franz Schubert, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Depression (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

Garrick Ohlsson
[edit]Hi. My confusion came because you added the LGBT banner thing to the Talk page before you added the information about his personal life to the article. All clear now. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 19:53, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- That’s my bad- I hadn’t realized that nothing regarding that information was even on the article😬 Zingarese (talk) 20:41, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- It's cool, really.
- But I have also removed LGBT categories from various articles that contained precisely nothing that supported such a categorisation. Sometimes an editor objects, with e.g. "His/her sexuality is well known". And I reply, "Please spell it out, with references, then add the relevant categories".
- It's the complete reverse of situations where there are multiple references to someone's gay life but editors object to us naming or categorising them as such simply because the subject never acknowledged this publicly. Dirk Bogarde, for a good example of a long-running argy-bargy. And some people are still uncomfortable about referring to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as homosexual ("He was married, for godsake" ... d'uh). Wikipedia is a fun place. :) -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 20:59, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, indeed! It's crucial that the sexuality, or any facet of the private life, of a person is well-established before including it on Wikipedia. Otherwise, it could be the worst form of libel if proven not true. I recall an anonymous editor introducing something about Cecily Strong's sexuality which was just completely false, for example. Also, in the case of Tchaikovsky, his homosexuality is well-established and the subject of extensive research . . . he of course kept it private during his lifetime for obvious reasons. About the Minions page
[edit]I decided to revert back, but I removed the sentence that caused the revert, But I still think mentioning the character's backlash is needed — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.172.180.75 (talk) 03:17, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message. This edit is unacceptable as it is not backed up by a reliable source, and it also comes off as jocular and unecyclopedic. I overlooked your previous edit, which, judging by a small glance, seems slightly biased against Minions but otherwise seems acceptable. Zingarese (talk) 05:22, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

The Art of Computer Programming
[edit]You added "vital article in art" to The Art of Computer Programming. The book is vital to computer science, but not to art. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:40, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- I have been merely adding {{Vital article}} templates to pages on Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/Arts that are missing them. I am not the editor who added the article you are referring to to that list. But you're right, it seems that this particular article is a better fit on Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/Technology ... Zingarese (talk) 04:34, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Strange, this edit says that you made it. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 05:03, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- I am not the person who added The Art of Computer Programming to Wikipedia:Vital articles/Level/5/Arts. However, I have been adding the Vital Article templates to all pages on that list that are missing them. Sorry if I wasn’t being clear. —Zingarese (talk) 05:38, 25 June 2018 (UTC)

What's your problem re:Clark Shao?
[edit]It's a basic and well-known fact that Clark Shao was Chinese. You have no reason to disagree and would be foolish to do so. Furthermore, a person's ethnic background and parentage are pertinent information in any biography. Just pick a biography of anyone and read it. So stop removing the reference to his and his parents' ethnic background in his biography. Continuing to do so would only raise more questions about your ignorant and prejudiced motivations. Without it, the biography is missing basic information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Master-Of-America (talk • contribs) 00:42, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Master-Of-America: I'm sorry, but all content on Wikipedia must be verifiable: Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it. Currently the article, and its cited sources, indicate that Mr. Shao was born and raised in the United States, so even if he was of Chinese descent (which is probable, given his surname), you must cite a reliable source supporting it. This "SPS video" that you state would be acceptable if the words came out of his own mouth. If you have any further questions, please don't hestitate to ask. Thank you very much. Zingarese (talk) 00:56, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
Re: Clark Shao
[edit]If you checked the bottom of Clark Shao's page, you would notice that his page already belongs under a category called "American people of Chinese descent" on Wikipedia. Therefore, it has already been established as fact, by Wikipedia's own account, that Clark Shao was Chinese, in the sense that he's ethnically Chinese, even without having to use the SPS video as reference. So, my edits of the page simply filled in the missing fact in his biography, was consistent with Wikipedia's verified category for his page, and thus should be added back to the page and not be altered by anyone going forward. Master-Of-America (talk) 02:33, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
- That category was added more than a year ago by an anonymous user without an edit summary or source. Also, I think it's appropriate to mention that the creator of the article removed the description of Chinese-American claiming it was "not referenced in any article". The claim that he was born to Chinese parents has remained on the article, but with a citation needed tag; for verifiability, kindly help the page out and cite that video. let me know if you need help in that regard.
