Delphic hymns image
[edit]Hi Ziggur,
I removed the image after asking Carnildo, who is more knowledgeable about these things than me (the discussion is on his talk page at or near the bottom). If you're pretty sure that the image can be reasonably claimed to be public domain, feel free to put it back. I try to be very cautious with images. Apparently there was a message from Jimbo about exactly this issue in May (link is in the discussion). Thanks and happy editing, Antandrus (talk) 21:57, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
- He recommended deletion not knowing the circumstances of the image, aside from the person's likely invalid non-commercial use license, it looks like. I'll upload it with a PD tag. Ziggur 00:41, August 29, 2005 (UTC)
Vandalism?
[edit]Hey, I saw one of your edit summaries for an edit of Martial law was "Remove vandalism" [1]. I don't disagree with the edit, but you might want to be careful what you call vandalism in the future as that seems to be more of a content dispute. Thanks. -- BMIComp (talk, HOWS MY DRIVING) 18:47, 30 August 2005 (UTC)
- Indeed, I didn't mean to make my edit look like it was calling you a vandal, but that's what it looked like anyway. I edited the article to remove the "ALL YOUR BASE..." stuff, I guess Wikipedia didn't pick up the edit conflict. Ziggur 18:50, August 30, 2005 (UTC)
- Hey, I once edited the scorpion page and changed "Scuicide Misconception" to "Scorpion Scuicide" and told how they DID commit scuicide when surrounded by fire.--Calvinsupergenius 19:34, 19 January 2006 (UTC) Ya, remember me, Ziggur?
Photography etc.
[edit]Thanks! I've been trying to track the development of the SLR, which is rather difficult to do: it seems that most cameranuts are brand loyalists, so you can find a million sites on the history of Nikon, say, but few that deal with overall technology. Time to hit the library, I guess! I think I've taken it fairly accurately through the mid sixties, and the paragraph on the autofocus revolution isn't bad, but I need to fill in on the seventies/eighties (largely the growth of electronics and motorization) and the nineties/present day. It's a big subject, and probably needs to be split off into a 'history of the SLR' article at some point.
I'm not as up on Nikon history as I am the other brands, so if you know anything, please feel free! It's also a bit lacking on the Contax brand and a few others. Photographic equipment is a huge subject which Wikipedia's a bit lacking in right now. Would you see a "WikiProject Photographic Equipment" as a worthwhile thing to do?
Multi-licensing into the public domain: yes, it's a bit nonsensical, really. It just helps those who don't understand PD very well to realise that they can treat it as either. Matthew Brown 01:21, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Vandalism in progress report
[edit]Hi Ziggur. I noticed you added an entry to Vandalism in Progress. That page is only for very specific cases, as described by the page's guidelines. Your alert would be better placed on Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV), where it will usually be processed within minutes. Many alerts that are incorrectly placed on Vandalism in Progress are never dealt with, simply because they become old before an administrator gets to them. Thanks for your efforts. :) // Pathoschild (admin / talk) 16:59, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Santa Monica photo
[edit]It's not the sunset that's beautiful in the picture, it's the combination. Check out the picture: Santa Monica Sunset.JPG, it has nicer sunset, but that's not the idea, like I said, it's the combination.

[edit]Orphaned fair use image (Image:Eclipse-mod.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Eclipse-mod.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Q-tip_amplified.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Q-tip_amplified.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 18:22, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Putsost.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Putsost.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on O.S.T. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. George D. Watson (Dendodge).TalkHelp 21:06, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Saintpaulcityhall-int.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Saintpaulcityhall-int.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:38, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
