AfD debate — Kamaliya
Hello. I'm copying this message to both Maksan84 and Zhernovoi, in light of the discussions ongoing at WP:Articles for deletion/Kamaliya, WP:Articles for deletion/Alloy Ventures, and the two associated article pages. I can understand that both of you are frustrated that articles you worked hard to create have been tagged for deletion. I think it might help you both to take a step back from the situation. There are a few points that might help relieve some of the tension here:
- On Wikipedia, there's no deadline. We have all the time we need to improve and clean up articles. Deletion is often not the best solution to an article that has problems. In my view, both of the articles you're discussing have encyclopedic merit, they just need improvement.
- Everyone's a volunteer here. We're all just regular people, none with special rights or expertise; we can produce something worthwhile if we collaborate.
I'd suggest taking some time to calm down and step back from the articles. You might also want to read up on the Articles for Deletion process guide. It sets out, for example, that deletion discussions go on for a week, during which there is an effort to build consensus among users of the encyclopedia as to what to do. You've both now stated your opinions on the articles; let's see what everyone else has to say. If you have suggestions on how specifically to improve either article, the article talk pages are the best place for that. And if you have any questions, I'm happy to help out. I have closed the AfD on Alloy Ventures early as a speedy keep. It is obvious that the AfD was only created in attempt to get retribution on you for an AfD on an article that Maksan84 was associated with. I have left a message on Maksan84's user talk page explaining why this is not appropriate. However, Zhernovoi, your actions are somewhat suspicious as well. Can you explain why the first edit you made after creating your account (yesterday) was to nominate Kamaliya for speedy deletion and then subsequently nominate it for deletion once the speedy deletion was challenged? This indicates to me that this account is a single purpose account. Any comments? SnottyWong talk 23:13, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking time to review the situation. Concerning my account — the registration time is 11 August 2009, 12:36. Before my first edit was made, i was taking a passive “reading” role on wikipedia. After i saw the Kamaliya article, i realized the issues it had to be an actual wikipedia article written by following the wikipedia policies and decided to take care of it, because the discussability of the subject was obvious to me. After that, i became a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject_Private_Equity to be involved in further article development processes in my area of expertise, as i realized the actual meaning of me helping the community with qualitatively articles and edits. - It just seems odd that after 9 months of "reading", the first thing you would do would nominate an article for speedy deletion. Most new users don't even know about the different mechanisms for article deletion, no less how to actually use them. It's also strange that after 9 months of lurking, you all of a sudden make nearly 100 edits in less than 2 days. It's also weird that your focus appears to be in finance (given your membership in Wikiproject Private Equity), but your first actions on Wikipedia are to delete an article about a Ukranian actress. Something doesn't add up. SnottyWong talk 02:27, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- I can't add anything more to the description of the situation i gave before. P.S. Deleting process policies and guidelines exists for being read by someone to understand the bureaucracy of wikipedia. Zhernovoi (talk) 05:40, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- I found no policy/statement which indicates the actions that shouldn't be performed by a relatively new user or as a first action. I assume i broke no rule by nominating the article for deletion as a first action of mine on wikipedia. Zhernovoi (talk) 10:34, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- I never said you broke any rules. I just said it was uncommon, and therefore suspicious. Just take it easy with Maksan84, he/she seems pretty sensitive. SnottyWong talk 16:07, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
