Please see User_talk:129.111.56.195. Looks like someone else also has a disturbing obsession with you. His behavior with you thus far has been incivil and malicious. SouthernComfort 20:56, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zereshk, those are all interesting points, but you should not be posting warning messages anonymously. If you have reason to believe that newly-created username a sockpuppet of Aucaman, just say so under your own username. If you run around posting "helpful" messages signed "-anon observer", and it's obviously you (to your credit, your comments here don't deny it) I am likely to sign those messages for you, as I did, so talk page users can keep track of who is saying what.
Threats of the sort you've posted on my talk page are unwarranted, as I've not attacked you, and do not have the effect you'd probably like them to.
Always feel free to drop me a line.Timothy Usher 22:13, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
User:Timothy Usher nice try to cover up, but it seems you are trying to cause problems for other editors. I suggest you read up on proper conduct. 72.57.230.179 19:28, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you go see the Music of Azarbaijan Article

[edit]

User:Granmaster is making claims that Azari music if part of an ambigious Caucasian music zone. From what I understand the Caucasian and Iranian music regions are one. WHen I wrote this he wrote in respose that the name 'Persian' has been mentioned. 72.57.230.179 18:52, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh ya, can you addd Zari musicians from Iran to the list? Or can someone else?
Double oh ya, since you are an Azari can you come give your feed back on the Azari peoples discussion. We are trying to formulate an an article with a less biased perspective. 72.57.230.179 20:39, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Civility

[edit]

Regarding this edit: Do not make accusations of other users, and above all do NOT make threats. You've clearly seen what can happen to an editor who attacks another; you should know that this rule applies to you, as well. Nor is sockpuppetry tolerated, especially when one is using that sock to violate policy. You've already admitted that you were the anon; trying to game the system here will get you nowhere. Try to be more respectful of other users in the future. --InShaneee 21:07, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As I said above, accusations against other users are considered incivil. Which means first of all, don't accuse Tim of lying. Even if he didn't post the whole message, all the admins I've talked to have agreed that it's probably not a coincidence that someone from your college just happens to make unlogged-in attacks against a user you've been known to fued with. Secondly, do not accuse me of taking sides. I've never seen any diffs in which this user has used anything resembling a racist epitaph. Regardless of his actions, though, your prior threats, and your current accusations, are highly innapropriate. If you cannot be respectful to all other users here, you will be blocked from editing. --InShaneee 21:25, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This is your last warning. Incivil comments directed towords other users such as here will not be tolerated. Discuss article content, not the conduct of other users. --InShaneee 21:36, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's argumentative. You don't mention a thing about any article, you're just attacking him. This is considered disruption, since it adds nothing to the quality of the site. And you still have not shown me evidence of this supposed ethinic slur. --InShaneee 21:52, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, he's not slandering you. The page says 'suspected sockpuppets', and it is suspected to be your sockpuppet. Secondly, he's talking about the article's content, not referring to you at all, hence why I took no action. Thirdly, we edit boldly, we argue civilly. Talk pages can be misused just like anything else here, and that is precisely what you have been doing. Finally, I am not 'taking things too far', I am simply letting you know what will happen if you cannot be more respectful. This is an encyclopedia, and most users here have better things to do than fend off baseless acusations and threats. --InShaneee 22:33, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm blocking you for 24 hours since you refuse to show the slightest bit of respect towords other users here. No, arguing with other users here is NOT acceptable, nor am I being t-o-t-a-l-l-y absurd by saying so. The proper thing to do is do discuss things, and by things I mean article content. And I'm not taking anyone's side; I'm applying policy. Accusations and threats are harrassment, period. You are not allowed to act like that, period. I'm giving you this time so that you can cool off, back away from all of this, and come back working on articles without harrassing other users. --InShaneee 23:02, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Star and crescent as symbol of Islam?

[edit]

There's a lot of discussion at Template talk:Islam about changing the symbol in the template. We have several people proposing forms of the Shahada (in the Sunni form) and several people who want to use the star and crescent. I said that I didn't think Twelver Shi'a would like that, since they spent centuries fighting the Ottomans, whose symbol the star and crescent was. One editor said that it was the Safavids fighting, not the Shi'a, and in any case, people should just "get over it."

Was I wrong in thinking that Shi'a might object to an Ottoman symbol? I'm trying to stand up for people whose views I don't share and sometimes I'm wrong. Zora 00:47, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:1907 Anglo-Russian Convention Persia.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. I'm going to upgrade Zoroastrian article to FA status so I gotta search out for some decent references but not now !. By the way You coming to Iran this summer ? Do you know any one coming (SC,...) ? so we could do a WP get-together in the future. There are "things" I wanna discuss with you. Will email ya after sometime. So long. [edit]

Zereshk, re. your message to Amir85 here ([1]): You have again described other editors (I suppose you include me, but it doesn't really matter) in a way that ascribes evil motives to us ("anti-Iranians", "censoring", "trying to slander"). This is a blatant personal attack, and I know you have a habit of using such language. It's a very grave accusation indeed. I am not "slandering" you, and I am also not "trying" to. But you are clearly slandering me, and I'm sick and tired of it. Lukas (T.|@) 21:14, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding [2], please do not make claims that I will remove people's edits before they have even made them. It will only contribute to an edit war. Moreover, I would prefer it if you wrote in English when referring to me on talk pages so that non-Farsi speaking editors can read exactly what is going on.--الأهواز 12:31, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you had written in English, then there would have been no confusion. If you write about people in Farsi there are bound to be suspicions and misunderstandings. Where did I remove Article 15? I linked to [3] in the Anti-Arabism article, which contains Article 15. I modified part the paragraph [4] because it was both POV and unsourced and badly written. However, I maintained the basic gist of what Sa.vakilian wrote regarding the contents of Article 15: Iran is multi-ethnic, the constitution allows for the learning of non-Farsi languages and all ethnic groups are equal.--الأهواز 22:56, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'd just prefer that when I am talked about on a talk page that it is in English so that I and others can understand what you are writing. I think I improved and added text. I believe that wikilinks help to prevent repetition. Since the constitution and the criticism of human rights groups in relation to Khuzestan are discussed elsewhere, it seemed to me pointless to have duplication and instead include links to existing content.--الأهواز 23:09, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

antiarabism in Iran

[edit]

salam.

please look at antiarabism. There is written:"Anti-Arabism in Iran is related to the notion that Arabs forced Persians to accept Islam in 7th Century AD (See: Islamic conquest of Persia). Author Richard Foltz in his article "Internationalization of Islam" states "Even today, many Iranians perceive the Arab destruction of the Sassanid empire as the single greatest tragedy in Iran’s long history. [13] See also: Anti-Persian sentiments"

I'm sure this is incorrect. Are you agree to replace it with this:

Iranian hate omavian because of their panarabism and because they called Iranian Mavali. But Islam isn't a rasist riligion and Shoobeyye are Muslim Persian who protest against anti arabism. Furthermore Iranian most of like the children of Mohammad. Iranian has made shirne for most of the prophet family in Iran and also Arabs region likes Iraq and Syria.

Zeresh I wanted to point something out To you

[edit]

This was written[5] and this was the response [6].

Here is the translation: How are you. To soon to give a complicated comment. These protests have been forming a long time coming and they are ripening, this wan not and necessary the only occasion, so that it would splash out to the streets. The basic problem is the fact that they [Iran?/Persians? I don't know who, but he says they] reject tp the Azaris the right to thei national identity, the right to the development of their own language and distinct culture. You can see even here, in the consideration of articles, Iranian Azarbaijan and Azarbaijanians. Some Iranian participants insist on saying Azaris are an Iranian ethnicity, although it is widely-known that Azaris are Turkic. This is what is being represented or occuring in Iran itself. Conflict apparently on this basis, people [Azaris] require the protection of their cultural rights.

These is only the tip of the ice berg. 72.57.230.179

Bernard Lewis Plan

[edit]

If you have time could you please create that article? I am surprised that no one has said anything about the Bernard Lewis article which I read after I heard about the plan and is very uncritical and praising. Khorshid 07:33, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

there is written a wrong text in anti-arabism:"Anti-Arabism in Iran is related to the notion that Arabs forced Persians to accept Islam in 7th Century AD (See: Islamic conquest of Persia). Author Richard Foltz in his article "Internationalization of Islam" states "Even today, many Iranians perceive the Arab destruction of the Sassanid empire as the single greatest tragedy in Iran’s long history. [13] (See also: Anti-Persian sentiments) Following the Islamic Conquest of Persia, many Iranians (a.k.a. "mawali") came to despise the Umayyids due to discrimination against them by their Arab rulers. The Shu'ubiyah movement intended to reassert Iranian identity and resisting attempts to impose Arab culture while reaffirming their commitment to Islam."

Iran and terrorism

[edit]

Just so that you know beforehand, I am planning to start an article on Iran and terrorism as this is now in the news quite a lot. I plan to look at both Iranian-backed groups (eg Lebanese Hezbollah), allegations against Iran and also terrorist attacks inside Iran and proscribed Iranian terrorist groups, such as the MKO. When I get it going, it would be useful to have your input - I know you'd give input anyway, but I'd prefer to be constructive about this. What do you think?--الأهواز 13:35, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't asking for your permission, just whether you would be interested in contributing or if you have any ideas. I know that I am going to run into objections over content and I would prefer a constructive approach to create an interesting NPOV article. Terrorism is rarely a "positive" subject, but sadly one which has come to define our era and certainly Iran is bound up with the anti-terrorism discourse by virtue of its support for Hezbollah, Hamas and others.--الأهواز 23:18, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do you believe that every Arab rallies behind men with beards and suicide belts? I don't like theocrats, so why should I support religious fanatics who claim to wage jihad in the name of the Arab people? And, no, many Lebanese hate Hezbollah and many Palestinians hate Hamas. As for accusing me of "trashing Iran", I approached you inviting co-operation and you accuse me of being a "Bushite neocon" for even suggesting the issue. Perhaps it isn't worth engaging with you at all.--الأهواز 23:57, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

prod: Iran-Italy_relations

[edit]

Hey Zereshk,

I proposed Iran-Italy_relations, one of yours apparently, for deletion. In my opinion, the article has little chance to ever grow beyond the stub that it currently is, and there is no general habit on wikipedia of making articles for X-Y_releations for each pair of countries in the world. In fact, the only string of articles which exist in this form are all yours. I admire your enthusiasm for creating Iran-related articels, and the thoroughness you exhibit in creating and maintaining them, but I think starting this series of articles is a bit overzealous from your side. If you agree, I suggest the Iran-X_relations articles be merged into the Foreign_relations_of_Iran article. If you disagree, feel free to replaced the prod tag with an afd tag and start an AfD discussion over it.

Brother, User:Ahwaz keeps reverting me on the article saying that Sheikh Khazal was "ruler of Arabistan" when in fact he was not and at Shushtar there was always a Persian governor. Even if Khazal had a title like "Governor-General" (I am not sure if this is correct at all) there was still a separate Persian governor in the north of province, even if he had no power in Khazals areas. I am very offended at this Arabism because it is giving false impressions and ideas. I am of Arab lineage myself and much of what I have read from yakhi Ahwaz is not true and the Ethnic politics of Khuzestan and other articles are incredible since they act like no other group in Khuzestan is important except for Arabs! What is the meaning of this? Khorshid 18:30, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zereshk

Anti-Persianism

[edit]

Hello Zereshk. I think we should also put some information about anti-Persianism among Pashtuns in the article. In the past 250 years - since the rise of the Hotaki dynasty, there has been anti-Persian sentiments among Pashtun tribes, reaching its zenith in the Afghan Mellat party, a Pashtun-nationalistic, extreme anti-Persian movement. Pashtun intellectuals in the past 50 years have tried to set up some kind of a "Pashtun glory" as a rival to the Persian history of Afghanistan, for example by fabricating the book Pata Khazana, an allgedly historcail collection of ancient Pashtun poems, dating back more than 1500 years, a poor copy of the "Shahnama" ... The author was Abdul Hai Habibi, who claimed that he had found an old book, which he simply re-wrote. Until today, these Pashtun intellectuals have not shown this mysterious original Pata Khazana in public.

And in recent times, when the Pashtun Taliban conquered Kabul, Balkh, and Hazarajat, they massacred Persian-speakers. According to some news, the Pashtuns ordered those Persian-speakers to read certain Pashto verses ... since they were not able to pronounce certain words correctly, their tongues were cut off and they and their families were killed (see Massacre of Yakaolang. Where's Southern Comfort?

[edit]

Hello Zereshk, It's been quite a while since I last posted here. With regards to the Anti-Persian Pashtuns above, I will add, as one of Pashtun heritage, that Pashtuns in general are very proud of their separate heritage and identity and have emphasized it for generations. However, they are still also proud of Persian cultural influences as well. In fact, the old Durrani dynasty of Afghanistan used Persian as it's offical language, instead of Pashtun, as that was a language all the tribes could understand. The Pashtuns in the northwestern Indian subcontinent (NWFP), however, seem to have developed a history rejecting Persian in favor of Pashto due to oppression by the Persian speaking Muslim dynasties based in Delhi (most particularly the Mughals). I think it gained momentum with the rebellions of Khushal Khan Khattak against Aurangzeb. That's how I see it, anyway. Hope there was no offence. However, I was really here to ask what happened to Southern Comfort. His user page no longer comes up when I type it up. If you could give me any info, that would be great. Thanks! -Afghan Historian 01:49, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you write to them so we can have the confirmation your assumption about that video's licence is true ? By the way, I noticed that you don't have an account on commons, that would be great if you created one and uploaded your free pictures over there, that would make on great place to find pictures of Iran (I uploaded mine, you can see them here. As I told you before this sentence "Anti-Arabism in Iran is related to the notion that Arabs forced Persians to accept Islam in 7th Century AD" is wrong. At first century Arabs didn't force Iranian to accept Islam because Omavids didn't bleive in Islam. And most of Iranians accepted Islam freely at second and third century and if they accepted it because of Arabs force why most scientists and celergymen were Iranian. Misconceptions about the Shi'a

[edit]

There is written :" Sheikh Mahmud Shaltut, who declared the Shi'a as a legitimate Islamic school of thought"

But I guess he legitimated Gafari rules not shiite.

I'm disagree with this: "Among the different groups, the Shi'a have in particular been harmed more than any other Islamic denomination due to lack of sufficient reliable references that are readily available to foreign researchers. In the words of Edward Browne, "we still have no access to any detailed, sufficient, and reliable works on the Shi'i school of thought in any of the European languages."

I think after Corbin efforts and Islamic revolution this problem reduced very much.

Why don't you refer to story of "abdollah ben sabba" and the responce of allame askari to it.

We can also tell the history of distortion of shiite view like call us rafezi.--Sa.vakilian 04:55, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Amir in Iranzamin

[edit]

Hi there, Long time no see dude ! I'm right now in Iran meaning no broadband and no decent contribution. For a long time I wanted to put this beautiful piece from Naser Khosrow on my page but I couldn't find a deserving translation of the original who keeps its rhythm. Could you please look into it and possibly translate it the same way you did with Hafiz's one ?

Dear my friend, The article about دانشگاه امام صادق In Persian WP will be removed, unless we delete the copied parts or add some reference to it. I see you've made an article in English WP so I guess you can help us to improve it.

Furthermore please add reference to other articles which have written in Persian WP to save them.--Sa.vakilian 18:16, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coleman Barks

[edit]

I deleted Coleman Barks from the list of most notable Iranologists. I believe a minimum requirement for some one to be considered an expert on Iranian literature and culture is being able to read in Persian! Coleman Barks is not comparable to an average Iranian literature professor in an average Iranian university let alone being comparable to Zarrinkoub, Nafisi, Dehkhoda, Yarshater, Kasravi etc. Agree/disagree ? --Joe Dynue16:23, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
