Guatemala

[edit]

Would it be possible to add a reliable reference for this fact? Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 03:16, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure,BTW the source is in Spanish and I also know it because I'm from Guatemala and we have clearly seen this in the school, Guatemala got independence from Spain in 1821, a year later a letter was sent to Guatemala from General Agustin de Iturbide suggesting to the Kingdom of Guatemala to join to the Mexican Empire, after long discussions the Kingdom decided to accept the suggestion and was declared official on January 5 of 1822 after a year and some months cultural and political differences lead to the further separation from the Mexican Empire, after that The United Provinces of Central America were funded stating that Central America was no dependent of Mexico, Spain or any other foreign power.

Spanish is fine, just needs to be reliable (basic historical fact). Materialscientist (talk) 03:39, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I added the Source to the External Links section, its from The National Museum of History of Guatemala.

Can't find a reference to January 5, 1822 on that whole site. Materialscientist (talk) 03:54, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is a more clear reference in another Wikipedia article http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historia_de_Centroam%C3%A9rica

Here is another site http://www.historiadehonduras.hn/historia/Independiente/la_anexion_a_mexico.htm

No January 5, 1822 there either. The problem is that It could not be annexed to the First Mexican Empire because that one did not exist yet. Something happened on that date, but I'm not sure what it was. Google books usually provide a solution to such problem, if time permits. Materialscientist (talk) 04:26, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, i'm a little busy with homework now so you can delete it and I'll tell you when i find the proper reference so we can add it again.
