User talk:Zazalong/Huazhu Hotels Group
Hi, I'm starting to walk through articles and give everyone informal early feedback on how they're doing. You'll notice this is a little bit form-letter-ish but I hope it is still helpful!
My general take right now is that you're making good progress on this article, so please keep working. Be sure to incorporate feedback from the peer review. You might find it helpful to apply the peer review guide to your own article as you think about where to go next.
Another area to improve as you revise is maintaining a "Neutral Point of View" about this topic. You'll find more ideas in this Wikipedia policy: [WP:NPOV].
To help you stay on track, you should look at an existing article on a similar topic to see what sections are included and how things like the founder, negative press coverage, and lists of brands are handled.

feedback on progress
[edit]Hi @Zazalong:,
You have made good progress on this article. What I am noticing right now about the article is that it is very much a list of details rather than combining pieces to explain the situation in narrative paragraphs. The article on Accor is not perfect, but one thing I appreciate about it is that the history is more than a list of events -- it tells a little bit of a story. Instead of a list of names for the brands, the Accor article uses tables to organize information, and by being in a table, the information becomes sortable. These features serve the needs of readers and help them to find the information they want in order to answer their questions. I think the detail about the man breaking into a hotel room is probably not a notable detail unless this event started up some kind of social media furor -- unfortunately these kinds of harassing and frightening incidents are relatively common. The data breach news item makes sense to include. Another important feature that the Accor article includes is a table of financial results. If you can find this information, it would be useful. The challenge for you in this article is that many of the basic categories of information were already covered before you started work -- our goal is to move the article up by one quality class, and once an articleis already at decent quality, it can take some additional thinking about what's missing in order to achieve that goal.
All that said -- you have shown enough familiarity with Wikipedia to go live with this article. My concern is that this article looks like it needs more work before it would receive full credit for this assignment. You have approval to move it to live if you are ready. If you want to, you can move it to live and then continue to work. The goal is to advance the article by a quality class in ways that demonstrate engagement with the norms of Wikipedia.
As a reminder, here are our go-live steps:
- Final read-through draft.
- Check live article for changes. [History Tab]
- Two browsers side by side, if you can. Code mode, not visual editor.
- Paragraph by paragraph copy, leaving behind an explanatory edit summary after each chunk of changes.
- Note on article talk page.
- Note at the top of your sandbox version.
- Submit a link to your article on Canvas.
- Celebrate!
