Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Zapytowskil1, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Your article

[edit]

I moved your article back to your sandbox because it isn't ready for mainspace yet.

The first problem is the sourcing you're using. Articles need to be based primarily on reliable sources written by third parties who are independent to the subject of the article. Right now, you're using Powell's own website, their own writings, and fairly passing mention on the website of the Cultural Rhetorics Consortium. None of these meet the requirements.

The second issue is tone. An encyclopaedia article should be written in a neutral tone, and rely as much as possible on factual statements instead of opinions. So calling MSU the renowned University...in East Lansing really isn't suitable for a Wikipedia article (and I say that as an MSU grad who thinks quite highly of the institution). Throughout the article you're using a conversational tone, when a Wikipedia article should use a formal tone.

I've linked to the brochure on biographies which may be helpful, and the Editing Wikipedia" brochure. Pages 7-9 of that brochure have a lot of helpful information on article layout. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:08, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
