License tagging for Image:Leftovers photo01.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Leftovers photo01.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:11, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
The tag on this image is very confusing. It is stated that:
- Only non-commercial or educational use of this file is permitted. But also that
- The copyright holder has released the image for any purpose. But also that you have
- Express permission from author for use to promote this band for historical or other purpose.
It's not clear to me that the copyright holder is really ready to let this picture go. With some exceptions, we only use images that have been released completely and unreservedly into the public domain (or under the GDFL). That means someone else could (for instance) take the image and use it to denigrate the band. Anyway, this is why the image (and some other images also of the band) has been deleted. Hi Herostratus. Sorry for this but the confusion was mine entirely when uploading the images - I am very "green" at the WikiPedia game! The suthor/owner of the picture(s) was happy for the pictures to be released to the public domain (for the reasons stated, ie: historical relevance of this band) but I selected the wrong tags, re-loaded the images witht he wrong reason (in the pull-down menu), reloaded AGAIN but may have overlooked something yet again. Can I change the status of the copyright information? I'll have another look but I may have to upload again :( My apologies for wasting people's time... I'll get it right sooner or later! I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article The (Fucken) Leftovers, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:The (Fucken) Leftovers. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Oh well, I guess it's difficult to prove to outsiders the relevance and importance of an obscure band like this but suffice to say they were very important and relevant to the emerging scene here. I really must say that there are many other inclusions in Wikipedia that now surprise me even more so considerring they ahve no importance whatsoever, especially some Scandanavian band of the same name. Never mind. Is there any way I can get a copy of what was deleted from view? Marc Austin-Zande 23:59, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Leftovers02.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Leftovers02.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File permission problem with File:Leftovers 01.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Leftovers 01.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 13:02, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
