George IV FPC

[edit]

Hi there. I thought you would be interested to hear that I added another version to the George IV featured picture candidate, this time without the halftoning. See what you think, cheers. Chris.B 20:12, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE:AfD request

[edit]

Hi! Thanks for your message. Perhaps I am sometimes unaware of my own naïveté, but my posts of the link were not intended to be disruptive at all. I simply aimed to highlight that the arguments weren't very good ones and were all based on the same, in my belief, fallacious principle. I just dislike the "useful" argument and it seemed to crop up a lot. If you would like to propose a discussion or make an argument in return to a vote/reason, you are perfectly entitled to do so (although I'm not advocating discussion erring on a point type thing, though I'm sure you are more capable of expressing yourself in an eloquent way...unlike myself *d'oh*).

I sincerely apologise for those posts because I have misconveyed my intention. I shall also make an apology on the talk page so that everyone else will be aware that they were good faith edits.

Also, thank-you for alerting me to how my userpage looks. I use firefox, which must render my page differently to how other browsers view it. Foolishly (or perhaps due to my dislike) I had not checked how it would look in IE. :-)

EDIT: Incidentally, what browser are you using (if you don't mind me asking)? I have now viewed the page using firefox and IE but cannot see the problem. I noticed, however, that part of the formatting was not exactly as I wanted it and thus appreciate your note anyway :-).
Seraphim Whipp 00:08, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply :-). I'll make a note somewhere on the page letting people know about the difference that resolution makes ^-^

Houdini stamp image not in public domain

[edit]
File:Houdini USPS Stamp.jpg
2002 Houdini Stamp

Just a heads up (I'm not losing sleep over this): I don't think that your image of the 2002 stamp of Harry Houdini (as displayed in the Houdini entry) is in the public domain. According to Wikipedia itself:

Title 17 of the United States Code (source : en:United States Postal Service) :

If you click on the USPS link above, they pretty much state that even for non-profit use you need to ask for permission. If you want to go ahead and delete properly see Wikipedia's deletion process for images like this. --Quartermaster (talk) 13:23, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Campus Ambassador needed

[edit]

Hi! My name is Annie Lin - I'm the Campus Team Coordinator at the Wikimedia Foundation. I'm contacting you because you're listed as a resident of San Francisco, and we're currently looking for a friendly Wikipedian to teach students in a University of San Francisco class how to use/edit Wikipedia. This is a role titled the "Wikipedia Campus Ambassador," and you'll basically be doing in-class presentations about Wikipedia, running Wikipedia labs/workshops, and in general providing face-to-face Wikipedia help for the professor and the students in the class. The time commitment is about 3-5 hours a week (with variations throughout the semester), and for this particular University of San Francisco class, most of the workload will be between March and May.

Please let me know if you're interested!

Thanks. Annie Lin (Campus Team Coordinator, Wikimedia Foundation) (talk) 20:15, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons

[edit]
Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time.

If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list.
