i can't remember what i even added, it was probably the quote from the beginning. its a long, depressing quote to start off a very depressing story about a guy who can't get anything right, and the quote is never on the internet in it's entirety. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.71.213.126 (talk) 19:23, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

No, my editing does NOT constitute vandalism, what you are doing is CENSORSHIP...are you really that stupid that you don't see that?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by ExpandYourMind (talk • contribs) 05:07, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- It is vandalism, since you are entering a statement which is entirely a pure research. If you want to argue for your point of view, discuss it at the article's talk page. E Wing (talk) 05:22, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Might I make a suggestion?
Don't warn the IPs. They're IP-hoppers at best and open proxy addresses at worst and aren't going to be on long enough to get the new messages bar, let alone laugh at your warning. -Jéské Couriano (v^_^v) 04:58, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for offering constructive criticism and I really appreciate you taking the time to do so. I see what you're saying and I do agree that pretty much most of the time they're not going to care about warnings and they're obviously doing it on purpose, but the way I see it is if the talk page has a warning at least in the future other editors will be able to see that they the IP caused previous problems instead of them getting a clean slate every day etc. Without the warnings there's not really any easy record to show vandalism (I appreciate they could remove the warnings as well as we could just look through their contributions, but that's not as instantly clear as a warning slapped on a page). Likewise I'd really like to think they're are IP users that would see their warnings and think "Oh ok... maybe I should stop this". Idealistic thinking I know... Zeke Kinski
Yes, you're right that February 2009 hasn't happened yet, but "Last appearance" refers to the last appearance as a regular character, or last appearance as a guest character if they are a former character. Zeke Kinski is still a regular character, because he appears in the end credits regardless of whether he appears in an episode. If you are a viewer of Neighbours, you'd remember the time that Mickey Gannon was off air for a short time last year. But he still counted as a regular character and was still credited every day. So this time is no different and I have re-reverted the edit. 124.171.113.30 (talk) 04:08, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't realise that it was confirmed he was coming back, but I can see your point of view now and yes I agree with your edit. Apologies for the confusion! ZX81 talk 04:17, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Accusations
I left a note for Mr. Fink on his page seeing as he decided to accuse me of vandalizing aardvark, which i never did. He is probably covering his own undoings. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.26.231.29 (talk) 02:08, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Mr. Fink also vandalized Kevin Sussman's page with wrong movie titles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.26.231.29 (talk) 02:13, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know who "Mr. Fink" is, but my reversions related to your edits were because of vandalism to User_talk:Apokryltaros. If you have any messages or questions to ask that user, it should be done on their talk page located at User_talk:Apokryltaros. I hope this helps! ZX81 talk 02:17, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- Mr Fink is the name left on my page by that user. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.26.231.29 (talk) 02:21, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I can see that "Mr. Fink" is now called "Apokryltaros". Because you are not using your own account it is possible that another Internet user previously had the same IP address and it was them that vandalised the Aardvark article. I would recommend creating your own account as this will stop any future confusion. However, please don't edit/vandalise any more user pages like you did today, please only edit on their talk pages! Strange situation
I received this message upon going to Wikipedia: The recent edit you made to Dorchester County, Maryland has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. ZX81 talk 00:44, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
My problem is that I didn't make an edit at all, but Wikipedia seems to have connected it to my IP address (as I wasn't logged in when I got this message). I don't think I'd ever seen the page in question before this. I'm contacting you, because your username was on it, and I'm baffled. Any idea what's going on? --Pearplum (talk) 03:09, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- I found the edit that you're speaking of, but I think you'll find that your IP isn't static and will change occasionally (this is quite common with DSL accounts) and it's likely that at the time the edit was made another Southwestern Bell customer had that IP address hence they got the warning, but it's your IP now so you're the one seeing the message. Because you've already created your own account which only you can use don't worry about it, but I hope this helps to explain! ZX81 talk 03:59, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Before you do so, please read the tool's guide to familiarize yourself with the process. You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on irc and the mailing list. Keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse may result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. — Possum (talk) 11:51, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

- I'm glad to have helped and I've replied to your other question now as well. However, I think you're possibly asking something that only the Dell engineers will know the exact answer too, but it could probably be worked out with some testing and measuring on the machine itself. - I really hate to nag and be a nuisance, but you have so far helped me the most and I am very grateful. The archive bot archived our discussion so if you don't mind, I'll continue it here? Feel free to delete this discussion at anytime. I have created a new account on my Vista (TANGERINE) as Kevin which is the same name and password as on the XP (DININGROOM). I've tried the net use commands from the Vista using my new account while the Kevin account was logged in on the XP. When doing net use \\DININGROOM /user:DININGROOM\Kevin I get the multiple users error. It used to work from the XP but not anymore, the same error occurs on both computers. When I type just net use into the cmd I see that \\DININGROOM\IPC$ appears under remote connections. Another intresting note is when I leave out DININGROOM from net use: net use \\DININGROOM /user:Kevin I get command complete but Shutdown gives access denied. I also tried the ip alternative but still get that error. Do you have any idea what could be going on? -- penubag (talk) 04:00, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry for the extremely late delay, but I've had some networking issues and haven't been able to get online. Regarding the net use DININGROOM\Kevin not working, but just Kevin working that was my fault. When you're on a Domain you need to specify the domain name, but in your case the local computer name isn't needed hence why /user:Kevin works. As for the shutdown permissions, because you're authenticating as an admin user I'm surprised you get the access denied message, however there's a way to change that. If you go to DININGROOM and load Control Panel->Adminstrative Tools->Local Security Policy. Under Security Settings->Local Policies->User Rights Assignment is a policy for "Force shutdown from a remote system". I believe it defaults to just "Administrators" and leave that in there. To completely open it up you could just add "Everyone" which means anyone at all on your local network could shutdown the PC, but instead I would recommend adding in "Authenticated Users" (without the quotes) which means anyone who supplies a valies username/password should be able to shutdown the PC remotely (you will probably need to reboot for this to take effect). Hope this helps! ZX81 talk 01:56, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you!! It worked! Changing the security policies did the trick. Thank you very much for your help! There were several things I found out though. When I executed the command, the XP said something along the lines of shutdown initiated by User:DININGROOM\Guest, so even though I was logged into administrator accounts on both computers, I was preforming the action as a guest. Another thing was it seemed the directories had nothing to do with it after all. I just renamed both accounts to have Kevin Duke and it worked (though Kevin didn't). Thank you again for your precious time! -- penubag (talk) 04:03, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

elton john chart achivements
Hi from regghead,I thought the whole idea about this site was to put the correct infromation on it so people can get the facts, so far in the music section that I have edited there are many mistakes, or ommissions or other people not doing there homework in the first place, how do I know this because I have been researching charts since 1977 when I brought the 1st edition of The British Hit Singles, and brought every edition since then and moved on to Joel,s Billboard books in the early 80,s and which I put down as my reference when I edited the pages. The first ommission I saw was Elton,s name missing from the list of Most N01 albums in the Billboard 200 of which he has either 7 or 8 either way his name is missing just under Brabra Striesand name so who deleted his name??? why have you taken something that is correct and in any Billboard Album Chart reference book and trash it while somebody else has made a mistake??? I say 7or8 No1,s depending on how you view The Lion King soundtrack I wrote to Joel Whitburn asking why it,s not include In his books as a Elton John LP his reply was He doesn,t sing 6 songs or more to quality like The Bee Gees Sing 6 songs On SNF soundtrack, but hang on I said Elton wrote the Whole Soundtrack the whole LP not just 6 songs which is his rule, not Billboard just something he made up along with Elvis 18th no1 which BIllboard dosen,t agree with and he lists in his book Elvis having 10 straight No1 singles ignoring all b side,s ep,s and the such like to have this record and yet on your site you have Whitney Houston having 7 no1 singles which is correct beating both The Beatles And The Bee Gees tied with 6 each with her streak in the 80,s, so with Elton,s 7 straight No1 lp,s from Honky Chateau in 1972 to Rock Of The Westies in 1975.someone put Mairh Carey has holding the record for the longest run at No1 for a female artist at 14 weeks with We Belong Together so Elton holds that record with Candle In the Wind 97,for a male artist so what,s wrong with that?? it.s Factual it,s in publician all over the world except your,s???? There are glaring other mistakes on your site but hey if you don,t want the correct infro on your site that,s up to you, Check it out and see if I,m telling the truth, elton has 7 Billboard No1 albums and has the most Billboard -year end No1 1986 that,s What Friends Are For, Candle in the Wind 97 Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 1974 top Selling lp in the USA and His Greatset Hits the top selling LP or 1975 in the USA for a chart freek like me and the many many other,s out there that,s interesting trivia such as the site UKMIX.ORG which has crediable and reliable information.Has for the amount of records Elton has sold on your site is far to low has to what is in print I can show you sales and figures that put his Lp sales in excess of 200milliom alone yet that has remain wrong and unchanged for many months on your site. I,ll let you reply to this letter first ,just so you know that I know what I,m talking about and not some idiot stumbling around in the dark, I have chart books from Australia, Canada, US, Britian has well as the New Zealand Complete history of which elton here is the No1 artist overall, hear from you who ever you are, I don,t suffer fools gladly so don,t take me for one rob —Preceding unsigned comment added by Regghead (talk • contribs) 06:07, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- That's quite a lot of text, but I'll do my best to answer. First of all I'd just like to point out I had nothing at all to do with your edits being reverted, however after looking into it further most of them were reverted because they looked like vandalism. I can see that you did put a partial reference to Joel Whitburn's Record Research Books here, but the tag wasn't closed (there was no ] on the end) so it wouldn't have shown up on the page. However, that was only for that single edit, because you made lots of tiny edits with small wording or number changes none of those show any referencing or have any summary to say why they've been chagned and so they could be very easily mistaken for vandalism. Where possible I'd recommend grouping edits of the same page together as it'll make it easier to see everything you've changed in one go, but I'd also recommend always filling in the edit summary box as this will then tell other users what you are changing and why. If you go in my preferences in the top right corner there is an option on the "Editing" tab to prompt you for an editing summary if you forget to fill one in which may be of interest. Hope this helps! ZX81 talk 23:10, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
elton john
HI from regghead, can you please tell me what is going on with this encycopedic, have found the user Ericobit who undid all my correct chart ajustments, like I said have all the US UK chart information in front of me Billboard, Cashbox, NME, Official UK charts the works yet this guy won,t either listern to anybody else or is so up himself and how important he is that nobody else matters.I,ve put a message on his site 5 day,s ago, not one word of reply nor has the chart been changed, it,s there in black and white on Elton,s Wikipedia page for all to see YET nothing has changed. So what,s the story, what do I have to do to get this right has it appears nobody what,s to listern to the right facts rob —Preceding unsigned comment added by Regghead (talk • contribs) 10:45, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, looking at your contributions you don't seem to have made any changes since your previous message to me (which has now been archived and can be viewed here along with my response) and I think it's probably those changes you're referring to? Please see my response to your original message for more information, but basically the changes didn't have any edit summary so it looks like vandalism which is probably why they were reverted. Likewise if you find that articles are being reverted even with an edit summary then I would recommend creating a section on that articles talkpage so that it can be discussed. I can't answer why you haven't heard back from Ericobit, but please remember that all Wikipedia editors are volunteers and due to real life commitments may be unable to log into the site for many days at a time. I hope this is of some help, but I'll try and assist further if I can. PS When leave messages on talk pages, always sign your name using four tildes ~~~~ as this will leave your signature and won't require SineBot to have to intervene. - Hi from rob, thanks for your note, I,ve checked out the billoard 200 after I read your note Elton,s name still as not been added to the list and has of June 26 2009 it still isn,t there, so how can you say it has??? This is so fuck up I,m done with this Shit —Preceding unsigned comment added by Regghead (talk • contribs) 10:23, Jun 25, 2009 (UTC)
- I think there's some confusion here. I haven't said that the article had been changed back to what you wrote, I don't know enough about the subject to make those changes. I was only trying to explain the likely reason why your edits had been reverted because you hadn't filled in the edit summaries on any of your edits and no references had been cited (you had tried to cite a reference once but the tag wasn't closed so it didn't appear). More unbelieve stuff from you people,MJ selling 750 million albums these figures from your site WORLDWIDE NOT JUST IN THE USA thriller 109 bad/dangeous 30million each that,s 169 million Off The Wall/History 20million each that,s 209million he only released 10 studio albums there,s 5 of them 750-210 say for arguement sake so that leaves 540 million, for the other 5 studio albums which would have to sell as much as thriller each and this is from your own site these figures and yet you have him with 750 million selling albums what utter bullshit your creditability is down the toilet —Preceding unsigned comment added by Regghead (talk • contribs) 09:54, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm not sure if you've read my previous replies here and here, but as I've tried to explain before, I have had nothing to do with any of the changes on those pages. I am just one editor amongst thousands and I have no ownership over Wikipedia, nor am I responsible for the edits made by other editors. If you see something wrong with an article then please do fix it, but please also provide a reference/citation as to why it's being changed so that it doesn't look like random vandalism. At the very least try and always fill in the edit summary box with a little information so that other editors know why it was changed. As I tried to previously explain (see the links above) that your edits to the Elton John discography article were reverted for just these reasons and they looked like vandalism. Also, looking at your contribution history you haven't actually made any article edits since then, but you do continue to keep coming back to my talk page despite my trying to explain what probably went wrong and how you can fix it. Best regards, ZX81 talk 17:27, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my talk page. The anon's replacement of its contents gave me a good laugh, at least. —David Eppstein (talk) 21:05, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

- Hi, the guide located here should explain all your questions on how to use the tool (it's also linked to from the header text at the top of the ACC Interface). The reset link literally resets are account request back to as if it were brand new (you're very unlikely to ever need that option). Best regards, ZX81 talk 03:15, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Monitors
Hey, do you use IRC, I need help to see if I can configure these monitors how I want. CTJF83 19:24, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
- Got it!! In case you care, the issue was it was having one long desktop between the 2 monitors, instead of each separate ones where I can drag stuff in between, so it would mess up youtube videos I tried to watch full screen. After a restart, an option came up on the windows display menu to have 2 separate displays that I can drag in between. Thanks! CTJF83 20:19, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry for not replying sooner, but glad you were able to solve it! ZX81 talk 21:03, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

ConfirmAccount extension
Hey :). You're being contacted because you are involved in the ACC process, or participated in the original discussion in '08 about the ConfirmAccount extension. This is a note to let you know that we are seeking opinions on switching this extension on, effectively making the ACC process via the Toolserver redundant. You can read all the details here; I would be very grateful if people would indicate how they feel about the idea :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:18, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
IP Block Exempt
ZX81 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
My usual IPs are in the range of a /18 IP block which has a 5-year time period (2010->2015). Previously I had to get IP Block Exempt added to my account, but last month when "Account Creator" was removed (because I'm no longer active on that project), the administrator also removed IP Block Exempt. I only found out today when I went to fix a page and was unable to do so. Due to time constraints I'm not so active on Wikipedia any more, but is it possible for IP Block Exempt to be re-added please so that I can still make edits when needed? Many thanks in advance!

IP Block Exempt Request
ZX81 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I am not very active on Wikipedia any more, but my usual IPs are still in the range of an IP block which has a 5-year time period and that doesn't expire until later this year (assuming it doesn't get extended!). Previously I had to get IP Block Exempt added to my account (which was added in May 2010), but that was removed by mistake in March 2013 at the same time my Account Creator permission was removed due to inactivity. I asked for IPBE to be added again and it was (April 2013), although having just logged back in for the first time in quite a few months, I've found it was removed again in August 2014. I do appreciate that the administrator who removed it saw I was inactive and was likely trying to clean up, but WP:IPBE doesn't say anything about removal due to inactivity and likewise the block is still active so can I please request my IPBE please be re-added (again) so I can still make at least occasional edits? Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Accept reason:
Following your request, I've given IPBE. PhilKnight (talk) 17:02, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity
Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
New deal for page patrollers
Hi ZX81,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:30, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
