Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Yuma2020. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Your edit has some hallmarks of promotional editing. I urge you to take this notification seriously. Drmies (talk) 22:36, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Drmies,
- Thank you for your feedback on my contribution to the [article name] on Wikipedia. I noticed that you have tagged my edit as "promotional" and I would like to seek further clarification.
- I have made efforts to ensure that the content I added is neutral and supported by reliable and verifiable sources. However, it seems that my edit has been interpreted as promotional. I would appreciate a better understanding of the specific aspects of my contribution that may be considered promotional, and how I can improve it to comply with Wikipedia's policies.
- I am committed to contributing constructively to Wikipedia and following the community guidelines. I would be grateful if you could provide me with more information about the issues you have identified and any suggestions for corrections. I am open to making the necessary modifications to ensure that my contribution is impartial and meets Wikipedia's standards.
- Thank you for your time and assistance.
- Sincerely, Yuma2020 Yuma2020 (talk) 22:54, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- I am committed to keeping promotional editing out of Wikipedia. If I have to explain to you what "promotional" means, then I don't think you are skilled enough to write for our project. If you are actually willing to contribute constructively, you should do the very first thing that the guidelines call for and that is disclosing your conflict of interest. I assume you read those guidelines? Drmies (talk) 23:28, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Drmies,
- I would like to apologize for any inappropriate expressions I may have used in my previous contributions. I acknowledge that I have made mistakes and that some of my expressions may not have been appropriate. I take responsibility for my actions and commit to working on improving and neutralizing any content I have created.
- As a member of this community, I understand the importance of maintaining neutrality and quality in Wikipedia's content. I am committed to reviewing and improving my contributions to ensure they comply with the guidelines and standards established in this project. I will also seek ways to avoid any conflicts of interest and be transparent in my edits.
- I appreciate the opportunity to learn from my mistakes and improve as a contributor on Wikipedia. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding. I will work diligently to contribute constructively and in line with the principles of this community. Yuma2020 (talk) 23:53, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- Can you declare your conflict of interest please? Drmies (talk) 01:20, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
