Thanks for your contribution to the Swine Flu table
[edit]Really thanks for your recent updates to the swine flu table, but I've spotted something which would improve the article a bit more:
- For the recent change in Colombia, you have placed the reference within the HTML comments. Please make it using standard citing format (as shown on Wikipedia:Citing_sources/example_style#Websites) so that it can be verified.
- For the change for China, could you replace with your own reference? The current one is from Chinese MOH and does not show the numbers you have changed. Also please note that we keep China, Taiwan and Hong Kong as separate entities for the figures in which WHO pours all of them into a single one.
Just my 2 cents and welcome to Wikipedia. - Xavier Fung (talk) 01:35, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- Actually you can try following the link above for the proper citing format. If you are editing, simply scroll down the edit box and follow what the other entries do. This would really help improving the verifiability and avoid misleading potential readers. - Xavier Fung (talk) 01:52, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- Also as a reminder, always leave messages to the bottom of other's talk page. :-) - Xavier Fung (talk) 01:53, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Links H1N1
[edit]also a lot of important links are now deleted by your editing . As example the link to the Canadian Health Goverment:( —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.131.185.78 (talk) 02:58, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
This evening you have been consistently adding the wrong nunber for the United States (along with Sweden and New Zealand. 1) You have been adding the WHO total (cumulative) number to the WHO newly confirmed number, thus arriving at a very high and incorrect number. Please stop until you know what you are doing!!!!!Sqlman (talk) 03:07, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
The "cumulative total" (column 2) includes the number from the 'Newly confirmed since the last reporting period' column, so your US number, for instance, is 4638 too high... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sqlman (talk • contribs) 03:15, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- It seems that you have mistakenly read the WHO bulletin and sum up the cumulative cases (total cases) and the newly reported cases. Please read carefully before editing. Also the US numbers are updated from US Swine Flu outbreak table and NOT from WHO bulletins. Please take notice for these and update the numbers properly. - Xavier Fung (talk) 03:19, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Singapore Case
[edit]WHO often lags behind in the report of cases, as every health ministries may not report to WHO daily, nor WHO releases bulletin every day. This worsens especially during and after the weekends. The precedence of references is official bulletins from each MOH > WHO bulletins if the former one has more updated figures. This also applies to news reports. We can update the figure quoting media references, but once there are coverage by official bulletins, the reference should point to official ones.
So for SG we would follow the press release from SG MOH.
If you have any questions regarding the update of figures, please leave your message on the talk page of the Template before actually doing so. The table needs to be as accurate as possible, so any "mistakes" would give false info to our readers. Ask before you do if you are in doubt. - Xavier Fung (talk) 03:30, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- One more editing reminder: If you are not very familiar with the editing of the article (like the format of the templates), you can try using Sandbox or create a subpage in your user page. This would avoid lengthy edits to get what you need. Thanks. - Xavier Fung (talk) 10:08, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
