Need Help

[edit]
There is an article, Aryabhata's relativity principle which is up for AfD. While I think that the article is poorly worded, it seems to me that the basic information is sound. It's just that pop-culture associations with the term "relativity" creates the misconception that Aryabhatta came up with Einsteinian relativity (whereas here he is talking about a qualitative form of Galilean Relativity). See this eprint paper here, and my response to the AfD [1].I think that the article (title included) needs a major rewrite but the basic information is sound. What do you think?Hkelkar 08:31, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have been awarded these Jelly Beans from -The Doctor- Please, enjoy them.

Here are some Jelly beans for you. I love jelly beans as they have sugar in them and most people love sugar. But on the other hand just receiving somthing from somone else just makes you happy and also just giving this to you makes me happy. I hope to spread the jelly beans all over Wikipedia, so here, you can have this lot. Please enjoy them. (I like the lime ones.)

Editors need a bit of a sugar high too.

check Srebrenica article

[edit]

KarlXII who might be a reincarnation of Osli73 and Jitse are deleting the intro to the Srebrenica article. I believe the intro -- the way it was before these latest deletions -- very accurately communicates a clear and comprehensive picture of what actually happened. To stop the Srebrenica article from spinning out of control again, I am writing notes to all the editors who have an interest in the article and asking that you visit the site more often. Thank you. Please take a look at Talk:Bodhidharma. everyone agrees but the cabal. They're still pushing for their point-by-point rebuttal. Kindly mediate. Freedom skies (send a message to Freedom skies) 23:34, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually in reply to the above, it is freedom skies that keeps on removing the citgations and pushing a pov. No one, absolutely no one in the bodhidharma article agrees with what he has written on it. that's why the article was blocked to begin with. Kennethtennyson 02:16, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you take a look into the Bodhidharma article you'll find that Kenny here is lying. Only the cabal remains isolated, the two of them. They shamelessly attempted pushing for a point-by-point rebuttal even after I compromised 5 times because I'm exhausted, believe me with the citations at hand it was not nessesary to have done that.

You blocked the article in my understanding. You know why it was blocked, because the cabal shamelessly wants to erase Bodhidharma from existence and Wikipedia is a pretty good place for it. When I type Bodhidharma in my Firefox addressbar it takes me here. If the red Han Chinese cabal does get away with turning of Bodhidharma into 100% myth, an act that I will not allow them then the foreign influence is taken away from Chinese martial arts. The red agenda is just that. They still pollute articles with unnessasary lines aimed to serve a nationalist agenda and make biased articles like Disputed Indian origins of East Asian martial arts, an article endorsing a POV categorically rejected by an overwhelming majority, as you'll find in Foreign influence on Chinese martial arts. Their article is also crafted in a very strange way. It makes extreme claims and then easily goes on to disprove them using a handful of authors.

Blnguyen,
A quick look at the history[2] will show that Kennethtennyson and I were not involved at all in the recent edit war (though we did become involved in the subsequent Talk Page discussion), yet another example of Freedom skies' tenuous relationship with truth and fact.
JFD 15:17, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See here and here . You'll see the article has already edited by kennethtennyson and JFD. Yes the same JFD who desecrated the Yi Jin Jing (and has done an admirable job at it, look at it. It is a classic example of bizzare) to cater to his point-by-point rebuttal style monstrosity and Kennethtennyson who has taken it upon himself to take on Facist India due to his convictions as a world renowed geopolitics expert and has the cheek to talk about my heritage and upbringing .

This is how the cabal works. No matter where JFD goes Kenny will blindly follow. In fact In Kenny's opinion JFD should write a book on martial arts. Let's hope it's not the same as the very bizzare Yi Jin Jing article. The pattern of wikistalking is extraordinary, no matter where I go Kenny reaches and reverts without explaination.

I'm currently evaluating the prose, and I can't find anything wrong with it. It flows, but not perfectly, and I don't think it's your actual style to have a pristine-poetic flow of prose. It's worth noting that I'm not one who writes at an exceptional level, so I really can't judge as well as someone else. However, I'll keep going. michael talk 08:57, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bainer. My FAC for Ian Thorpe appears to have hit a snag, in which Tony has discovered deficiencise in my writing style. He asked that I find a fresh set of eyes to check the rewritten prose. I'll certainly have a look when I get the time, hopefully in the next day or two. [edit]

Hi, we have a heavy backload of cases at WP:MEDCAB and since you are on the mediator list I thought I would request your help. Thanks! --Ideogram 10:42, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've started copyediting it. I don't want to bring this up on FAC, but while I feel it is interesting and comprehensive, I think it is too long to do itself justice. You could break some of the sections out into their own articles and some detail could just be removed. For instance, the section on his early life has a potted biography of his father:

Thorpe's father, Ken, was a promising cricketer at junior level, representing Bankstown cricket club in Sydney's grade competition. Ken achieved selection for Bankstown before his teammates Len Pascoe and Jeff Thomson, who became long serving members of the Australian cricket team. A talented batsman, he once topped the season's batting averages in the latter stages of his career ahead of former Australian captain Bob Simpson. However, paternal pressure from Ken's father Cecil detracted from his enjoyment, and Ken walked away from the sport at age 26.

I'd normally recommend just dumping the whole section, but it has relevance to later statements. However it could be cut back:

Thorpe's father, Ken, was a promising cricketer at junior level, but paternal pressure detracted from his enjoyment and he walked away from the sport aged 26.

Anyway, I'll go on with copyediting as is, although it may take a while to get through it. Cheers, Yomanganitalk 12:45, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, I'm not as easily bored as most people, given my statistical pedantry. Having said that the GA reviewer failed mine because he deemed it to be boring. And of course, having written so much of it, I'm not inclined to destroy content, although it would seem unusual and perhaps be viewed as cruft if I wrote forks for a bits of a sportsmen. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:01, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I still think it is too long to attract the casual reader, but it does make interesting reading if they make the effort to dedicate some time.

Some queries

[edit]

This bit seems to be contradictory. They didn't reclaim their record, but lowered the world record? Or, is the individual world record something else? :

Although unable to reclaim the individual world record, Thorpe, Klim, Kirby and Todd Pearson lowered their world record to 7 min 07.05 s
Yes, the first swimmer, in this case Thorpe, has a standing start, so if he completes his leg faster than the individual 200m world record, then he breaks that officially. In this case he did 1.46.00 not < the 1.45.35 needed, so he didn't break it. But the overall team was faster than their WR from the previous year. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:01, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've reworded it slightly to make it clear.

This isn't explained well. I assume you mean he stopped at the WTC, and the attack took place in between the time he left and returned to the hotel?:

He narrowly escaped death there on September 11, 2001, when he had stopped at the World Trade Center on his morning jog before returning to his hotel. By that time the September 11 terrorist attacks had been perpetrated, with Thorpe fortunate to escape.
Yes, it was blown up on his way back to the hotel. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:01, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Somebody had already edited that, but I removed the faint implication they had managed to introduce into the next sentence.

I've also put a couple of queries in the edit summaries where I've change things that I'm not 100% sure of, and replaced "his sister's future brother-in-law" with "relation", as I couldn't work out who that would be (sounds a bit like "my mother's brother's father's wife's daughter's son"...hey wait, that's me!). Cheers, Yomanganitalk 15:19, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the younger brother of Christina Thorpe's husband was the cancer victim. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:01, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I reworded that slightly - I think it is easy to read, but if you disagree, just revert it. Yomanganitalk 08:19, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Freedom skies' accusation

[edit]

This is in addition to him trying to fake a name for a webpage here .

If you'll click on that link (http://www.atributetohinduism.com/India_and_China.htm) you'll note that not only does it work, but that at the top of the page it says in huge letters "Formerly A Tribute to Hinduism".
JFD 07:06, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is In addition of him trying to fake a citation here . Nowhere does the said citation support his claims of "Batuo accepted as religious disciples the accomplished martial artists Sengchou and Huiguang". Where does the citation mention that Sengchou and Huiguang were accomplished martial artists? Of course his efforts are directed to craft Han Chinese meticulously sourced point-by-point rebuttals not encyclopedic Wikipedia articles so I don't expect any expect any legitimacy from him or his cabal.

Wikipedia:Harassment

[edit]

I direct the attention once again to the pattern of the cabal, who closely follow me committing harrasment under WP:stalking. Kindly observe this, this, this, this and I can provide a lot more.

If you take a look into the record you'll see that when I make an edit into any article first. The cabal follows me there and stalks me. One member of the cabal in particular, kennethtennyson has contributed next to nothing in any actual article in which he stalks me. All he does is, walk in here, violently revert and then log out.

Since the Bodhidharma situation is almost solved, observing the present situation of the dialogue. Kindly take notice of this. They will attempt further stalking.

That's why I requested you to keep a watch over the actions of JFD, Kenny and myself . If you watch closely enough, everyone's agenda will soon become very clear.

Extending regards.

Freedom skies (send a message to Freedom skies) 18:03, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly note Kenny tried to fake the content in the Encyclopedia Brittanica citation , remove a citation and a section without any explaination whatsoever , removes an entire section without one word of explaination and fraduelently claims that the citation has anything to do with Sengchou and Huiguang .

This has become very painful. Kindly stop it as early as possible. The amount of WP policy violations they get away with is amazing.

Freedom skies (send a message to Freedom skies) 21:22, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

...fraduelently claims that the citation has anything to do with Sengchou and Huiguang] .

I have supported this claim with a longer excerpt from the cited article in question.[5]
It is several paragraphs long, which is why I was initially reluctant to excerpt it in full.
Note that instead of verifying sources, which is the whole point of citation, Freedom skies lets loose with accusations of lying.
I gave the name of the magazine, the issue and the name of the article, enough information for Freedom skies to verify my edit.
Instead of doing so, he chooses to revert and throw around false accusations.
JFD 04:38, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

JFD, Kenny and myself . I extend a request to kindly inspect the patterns of the said three regularly.

On a completely unrelated note. I request you to take a look at Talk:Bodhidharma. Kindly propose suggestions. I extend the request to you due to my conviction that all parties involved will appreciate your suggestions a great deal. Thank You.

WikiProject India Newsletter: Volume I, Issue 3 - December 2006

[edit]
Project News
  • Name change of cities in Karnataka: A straw poll was conducted on the proposal to change the name of cities in Karnataka, per the Nov 1, 2006 decision by the Karnataka government to rename them from the current anglicised forms. The result of the poll was to change the names. As controversial as the decision may be in the real world, the article Bangalore in Wikipedia still reflects the old name. You may be interested in knowing why. Dig the archives.
  • New Project Noticeboard (Shortcut:WP:INB): WikiProject India now sports a new colourful centralised noticeboard. An effort to make the noticeboard current and dynamic was mooted a few days back, and Ganeshk came up with the new format. The new noticeboard will strive to be the one-stop shop for all project related information. The shortcut is WP:INB.
  • Members List: The old members list is being phased out to give way for the new members list. New members are requested to add their names to the new members list. As the newsletter grows, further issues of the Project Newsletter will be delivered to those enlisted in the new list. So dash down now, to check if ur name is in there.
