AfD nomination of Yozzasport
[edit]I have nominated Yozzasport, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yozzasport. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. ErikTheBikeMan (talk) 15:04, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
YozzaSport
[edit]If you can, sure, but please read WP:COI first, as it appears that you are in some way affiliated with the company. ErikTheBikeMan (talk) 15:23, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- I would suggest you place a request at the Article Requests page. That way, another editor who does not have a COI may create a page. However, I believe the main issue here is the notability of your company, along with that of Demon Tweeks, your competitor, whose article is also being considered for deletion. - This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it—see below.
Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, related to a 'real-world' group or organization, or misleading. Also, usernames may not end with the string "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a change in username. To do so, please follow these directions:
- Add
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far more easily allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username.
- In the alternative, you can "abandon" the contributions under this username and create a new account, which is much faster and easier.
- Add
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below or emailing the administrator who blocked you. Daniel Case (talk) 16:46, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Request reason:
This name - y0z2a has been my nickname for about 15 years. I am know over all forums and various other internet sites as the same name - it means that people know articles and edits by me on a number of different sites. I can't see how it is close enough to YozzaSport to warrant deletion.
Decline reason:
Moot, since you are now offering to change usernames. I might agree with you that this name is not TOO close, but if you were to change it would be better. Mangojuicetalk 15:59, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Eric, I have had my account blocked by someone this evening, so am unable to edit the page to make it any more sensible than it is already. Demon Tweeks are the largest motorsports parts retail companies in Europe - if not the world, YozzaSport are one of the largest producers and sellers of Clio components. I simply wanted to list our business with our competitors. I read the guidelines, and made a pretty impartial submission. I replied courteously to you and read all of the information that you pointed out to me, and now I have had my account locked? I have been a member of Wikipedia for ages, and haven't been unruly. It seems like rather a strong reaction to a relatively straight forward presentation of information. Thanks. /ah Y0z2a (talk) 20:09, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- Your account was blocked because the name is too similar to the name of the business you wrote about. Also, please note that if you were here to "list our business with our competitors.", you're in the wrong place. We don't list all businesses in a specific field, we're an encyclopedia. (Wikipedia:Spam#How_not_to_be_a_spammer This section has some helpful information) - Mgm|(talk) 21:59, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
MacGyverMagic, can I request an unblock to change my username then please. I have read the article about how not to be a spammer, and still don't think that I have done much wrong - we maintain clio cup race cars and renaultsport vehicles that are included in the encyclopedia. Thank you. Y0z2a (talk) 13:56, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

{{unblock|This is so crazy - my first message that I posted when I was questioned about a conflict of interest was as follows to ErikTheBikeMan - who queried my post of the original article -
"I have read the COI information, and I do have a conflict of interest. I gather from that page that now that I have a conflict of interest I am not allowed to edit the page further for sake of risking a ban? I obviously wanted to create a factually correct article about our company. I don't wish to have the article deleted, however I am obviously respectful of the rules that you have in place. Am I able to do anything that will mean that the information is not seen to be COI. I based the article on one of our competitors who is listed Demon Tweeks Y0z2a (talk) 15:39, 12 March 2009 (UTC)"
I am not trying to fudge the system, I acknowledged my COI immediately, as I have no reason to try and hide it - I was not motivated by a desire to manipulate the listing - simply to provide accurate information about our company. I edited the article to remove anything that I believe could be considered inaccurate or promoting our company and simply presented facts. I feel that I have been jumped on by someone who believes that I am trying to mis-lead people - The first thing that I did was hold my hands up, and say - sorry. I don't really know what else to say? I have agreed already to follow the guidelines more stringently, and have read extensively your COI documentation. I read with interest the section [WP:AGF] as I don't seem to have been treated with it. Thanks. /y0z}}

Blocking
[edit]For what my opinion is worth, I would have to say that he should be unblocked. Yes, the creation of the Yozzasport article probably was COI, but if he is able to prove that the company is notable, I'm not sure why that should inherently be a problem, especially if the article isn't an advertisement. ErikTheBikeMan (talk) 15:00, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm going to unblock, Y0z2a, so that you have a chance to participate in the deletion discussion before it is over. It is up to you to find as many in-depth, independent, secondary sources about Yozzasport as you can, hopefully online ones that other editors can look at. You mention magazine articles that mention Yozzasport -- that's probably not going to cut it, because that sounds like those sources don't discuss Yozzasport in depth. I do think you would be wise to make the username change request you previously indicated you would make but if you would rather not, I'm not making it a condition of unblocking, given that the connection is weak and you are now aware of the COI rules and are agreeing to abide by them in good faith. I do need you to understand that the problem here isn't, exactly, that you are misleading people, it's that we can't trust companies to post dispassionate information about themselves, and we can't trust companies to make a dispassionate judgement about whether there ought to be Wikipedia entries on themselves. Apologies that we leaped to conclusions, but this kind of thing is a major problem on Wikipedia and for every one instance of a user who cares about Wikipedia rules, there are two dozen who are just trying to exploit Wikipedia for financial gain. Mangojuicetalk 17:57, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- I have made the username request change. I appreciate you time, and will try to collate some more articles about the company. I will add whatever information that I can. But don't want to be seen to be adding to the problem if that makes sense. If the article doesn't carry enough weight, then it will have to go. I will obviously do what I can to make sure that you have enough information to make an informed decision. Thank You.Y0z2a (talk) 13:36, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
