[edit]Hello, I'm MrX. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Phil Lester, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Please also provide edit summaries for your edits as it helps other editors understand what edits you have made. - MrX 22:29, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Phil Lester. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. All BLP content must be referenced to independent, reliable sources. (YouTube is self published, and is not a reliable source, nor are personal blogs). Please do not keep adding unsourced material to this article. - MrX 22:40, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- Regarding my edits on the article Phil Lester you stated that I haven't provide a reliable source and that "YouTube is self published, and is not a reliable source, nor are personal blogs". While I used two YouTube sources, the other four sources I have used are:
- http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2012/r1-weekend-schedule.html
- http://www.channel4.com/news/the-rise-of-the-vloggers
- http://theyorker.co.uk/legacy_articles/729
- None of these sources are personal blogs. I also apologise for my computer uploading my edits multiple times, this was not my fault but rather the fault of an old computer. I would like you to reconsider my edits as the allegations you put forward are not fully true. Thank you. XxXKatieLouXxX (talk) 23:24, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- The references shoudl be adjacent to the text that is being added, in the form of footnote citations. For example, which of four sources are you using to support his birth date?
- Another example, is:
- "He lives with his best friend Daniel Howell in London. A regular appearance in Lester's videos is a cuddle lion toy (called Lion), which usually sits at the back of the videos, speaking to the audience through annotations. Through this, Lester's separate fanbase call themselves Philions. He has appeared on TV numerous times including being on The Weakest Link."
- Another example, is:
- which you cited to this URL: http://theyorker.co.uk/legacy_articles/729
- But none of that content about his personal life is in that source.
- The first source that you provided (above) goes to a page that says "Hmm, something went wrong…"
- There are other examples, but rather than giving an exhaustive list, you should make sure that each new fact that you add can be tied to an adjacent, inline reference. If I, or someone else, check that reference and don't find the information, or it comes from a self published source, then it will be removed. The guidelines for BLP's are very strict, and given the vandalism that has already occurred on this article, it is going to be carefully scrutinized. I hope that helps. - MrX 23:43, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
