Replaceable fair use File:Jack Barakat Playing Guitar.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Jack Barakat Playing Guitar.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. January (talk) 07:20, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. A page you recently created may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for new pages, so it will be removed shortly (if it hasn't been already). Please use the sandbox for any tests, and consider using the Article Wizard. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Your first article. You may also want to read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. Individual members of bands are often not notable enough to have their own articles. See WP:BAND. This was explicitly determined as consensus for Alexander Gaskarth, so I returned his article to the redirect to the band (per the guideline). Jack Barakat seems no better, so I did likewise. DMacks (talk) 05:43, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- @DMacks:I did not even get the chance to add more info to these pages before you deleted them. Alex has been featured on many songs by other artists, both he and Jack have individual clothing lines, they also co-host a podcast outside the band, they have unique backgrounds, etc. I see pages that exist for other band members who are less notable than them, so I don't understand why I can't create pages for them. All Time Low is continuing to grow as a band and their members are becoming increasingly well known. They already have many individual successes and stories, and I'm sure that over time, the pages will continue to grow and build. Please consider restoring the pages. Thanks. - Feel free to file for a deletion review. For now, Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, so we can't "for now" have pages that "over time might" become viable (for example, no matter how notable the band itself has become, notability is not automatically inherited to its individual members). DMacks (talk) 07:34, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- @DMacks:As I said, they do have notable projects outside of the band. I only created the pages yesterday, so I did not have the chance (nor has any other contributors had any chance I'm sure) to add more info the pages, which is why they seem short. Also, as I said, I've seen wikipedia pages that exist for other band members who are less well known than them. So why aren't those articles all deleted? Xosugarxspicexo (talk) 07:40, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- If there are other pages that do not meet wikipedia standards, they too could be subject to deletion. There's an endless stream of good and bad content, sometimes it takes a while or a sharp/lucky eye to find material that is not appropriate (feel free to nominate any you happen to find!). - @DMacks:I don't want to get any of these other pages deleted. They may be short, but they provide information about the members, such as age, background, individual picture, etc. - all of which are not included in their band pages. And in the case of the pages I was working on, Alex and Jack both are pursuing notable projects outside the band. I'm sure a lot of people would want to know about the members individually and it will help if they each have a page. Also, above, you stated that it was "determined as consensus" to delete the pages... by who? Who gets to decide whether or not to keep a page? Can't we ask other contributors what they think of the pages before you just delete them? Thanks. Xosugarxspicexo (talk) 08:10, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- WP:BAND sets the standard minimum for having a separate page. Articles about a whole band could easily have some content and picture of each member. WP:CONSENSUS is how almost everything here works...once there's a public discussion (usually open to all), its results stand until there is a new similarly public one. Over time and especially with new information and events, the consensus could change, but until then, we need to respect the previous one (otherwise wikipedia would devolve into a free-for-all anarchy). As I mentioned when I converted the article to a redirect to the band, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alex Gaskarth is the current consensus. WP:Deletion review, which I mentioned earlier, is a place to get advice and possibly a new consensus. DMacks (talk) 21:00, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

- @DMacks:Okay then... but why is Jack's page also deleted? Is there a consensus for that as well? Xosugarxspicexo (talk) 21:51, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Jack's article looked no better (in terms of claimed notability) than Alex's (and Alex seemed possibly more prominent to the band itself). If it's not better than a topic that has AfD consensus, then that's the precedent (all the same comments would be expected in best case, and therefore same outcome, at the time of that discussion). Disambiguation link notification for July 10
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited All Time Low, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bass. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
