Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Karakaj, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. SpinningSpark 17:20, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- In answer to your question on my talk page, I was referring to this and subsequent edits on the article talk page. The etiquette on Wikipedia is not to edit other peoples comments, even when they have made an error. As it says above, the talk pages are records of what was said and you should not tamper with other's comments. You can put a correction below with your signature or you can bring it to the attention of the original poster but you must not change someone elses comments. In the case of spelling or grammar errors I would not bother to do anything at all (on a talk page - articles are a different matter). It is even frowned on by some to make changes to your own posts after someone else has commented below it. The reason for that is that the second persons comments were referring to words that have now been removed and you may have changed his/her apparent meaning. The right thing to do in those circumstances is to post the corrected text at the bottom of the thread and then strike through your original words. It is then clear to everyone what is being replied to but that you no are no longer asserting it.
- I also find some of your posts to the article to be problematic. I am sure you know that this is a highly emotive issue and is likely to be controversial. It is very important that the source of such information is cited so that the factual accuracy of the statement can be checked by other Wikipedia editors, but you have provided no source. If someone else were to delete this because they thought it was untrue how are we to tell who is right and who is wrong without knowing the source? I hope that answers your question
