February 2019 - talk page conduct

[edit]

Hi Xardox. Concerning your comments at Talk:Russ_Nelson#Russ_Nelson_still_trying_to_whitewash_the_article_about_him, toward the end it really becomes full on discussion of Russ Nelson the editor rather than Russ Nelson the article subject. Please remember to keep the talk page focused on improvements to the article. It shouldn't be used to continue an argument that has meandered far from that course, even if you are right, and even if you are being baited. If an editor's behavior needs adjustment, there are noticeboards for that. Thank you. Someguy1221 (talk) 00:32, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from using talk pages such as Talk:Scrum (software development) for general discussion of the topic or other unrelated topics. They are for discussion related to improving the article in specific ways, based on reliable sources and the project policies and guidelines; they are not for use as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See here for more information. Thank you. ArbCom 2019 election voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:04, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

October 2023

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add defamatory content to Wikipedia, as you did to Talk:John Gilmore, especially if it involves living persons. Your edits have been reverted. Thank you.

This is at least the 2nd time you've been warned about this sort of thing, and frankly an admin could just block you indefinitely for that post alone, since it had to be WP:OVERSIGHTed.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  13:20, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Specifically, this block is for misconduct on talk pages going back years. After an oversight request today I have spent some time going through your edits and you have repeatedly used talk pages to express your opinions on article subjects and defame living people. Today's edits I felt compelled to suppress as libellous and I've suppressed at least one other set of edits and revision deleted several others as violations of the biographies of living persons policy. For the avoidance of doubt for any reviewing admins, this is not an oversight block; the evidence viewable by admins amply justifies the block on its own.
