Hello XPTN, Thank you for your contributions to Magdi Allam article. You added "like his father, consumed alcoholic beverages." but you need a reference for that. AS you know, that is a very serious offense in Muslim religion so be sure to support it. SelfEvidentTruths (talk) 22:54, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
You are right, I have it somewhere. I will add it after dinner. Anyway, his father was not a practicing Muslim - as many were not in Nasser Egypt - while his mother was very pius. And as a teenager in Italy, I myself have shared more than a beer with African immigrants who where "theoretically Muslim", while working for charities. Thank for your message.--XPTN (talk) 23:00, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
can you provide references or examples for his pro-Palestinian opinions?
[edit]You provide many important points and put things into perspectives but we need more references. Can you provide some examples of his pro-Palestinian opinions, pro-immigration, pro-multiculturalism? Also, I think we need a section called "Criticism of Allam" - I have a feeling many academics, human rights activists, politicians have criticized him. SelfEvidentTruths (talk) 15:37, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, many of his stances would be considered akin to KKK if they were not coming from a north african (as not allowing muslim to build mosques in italy for instance), and that there are indeed many academicians in Italy that signed even manifestos against his views. One of these is the very famous historian, and conservative christian , Franco Cardini. I will need to do a thorough job in documenting those. I also will reinstate in the "criticism" sessions the opinion from the deputy director f La Republica. Also I will reference the support he receives, for Instance from some politicians of the right wing, as Ferrara, currently very much involved in a battle against abortion. You see - and this is just my opinion and thus i will not report it - the fact is that the neocon, pro Iraq war, pro Likud groups in italy are trying to turn around the Vatican's age old opposition on these issues, in exchange for support to the church on issues like abortion, stem cells and gay rights. Allam public baptism - acompanied by a politician of Forza Italia as his godfather - was another step in this strategy. Not coincidentally he immediately after claimed abortion to be a genocide --XPTN (talk) 19:28, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
About the Palestinian issue, it was for instance present in most of his responses on a forum he had on La Repubblica. I'm trying to recover them, but it's hard as it was closed in 2003, and there is no index. i very much remember it, and some of them are reported in blogs, but it would be necessary to actually quote the source.--XPTN (talk) 19:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
