Soxbot X

Inputbox

Hi Soxred, regarding the bug you filed on bugzilla for extra functionality for the inputbox extension, I don't really understand the status of this issue now. So there is a patch, but the functionality doesn't seem to have changed on wikipedia yet. Is that because they don't update automatically? Explain please. Questions about SoxBot I

I'm looking at the whole bots-tagging-orphans issue, and was wondering:

  1. Where does SoxBot look to find orphans? (Lonelypages, UncategorizedPages, ...?)
  2. Why hasn't SoxBot tagged an orphan since June 1?

1) Lonelypages. 2) The server it ran on is down, and it uses too much memory to run on the m:Toolserver. I might rewrite it soon, so it uses less memory. X! who used to be Soxred93 17:03, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the info! The reason I ask is, I'm hoping to get the 1000 article limit on Lonelypages lifted (from a discussion on Wikipedia talk:Special:LonelyPages#Does anyone use this?), and this gives me another justification. I don't think there's a mainspace or even new pages-patrolling bot for orphans, so Lonelypages is our best shot, and it currently doesn't get out of the A's. --JaGatalk 17:29, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I was actually working on getting it to use the database, which gets every article, even if they are not listed on Lonelypages. X! who used to be Soxred93 18:17, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I should've looked here before I wrote this. But of course, dropping the 1000 article limit would be a good thing anyways, if we can do it. Have you gotten approval for scanning the whole database? I saw Addshore's RFA was rejected when he wanted to go beyond Lonelypages. --JaGatalk 00:36, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Addbot's request was not actually rejected. It was withdrawn because Soxbot was already doing it. If Soxbot isn't doing it, it might be worthwhile to have Addshore re-file the request.--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 17:46, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

user page deletion

i noticed that my user page was deleted by you. it was a redirect to my user page on zh.wiki (my 'home' wiki). although it cannot do a redirect, it can show a link to zh:User:Liangent. i don't think it's 'an non-existent page'. --Liangent (talk) 05:37, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I think because the redirect wasn't to a local page, it was being reported as a broken redirect. I've changed it to use {{softredirect}} instead. EVula // talk // ☯ // 05:42, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Exactly. The script I used to generate a list of broken redirects (which was the same query that MediaWiki uses) thought that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/zh:User:Liangent didn't exist. Xclamation point 15:20, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Great! I have set up a coaching page for you at User:Legoktm/ADCO, you can go ahead with the first stage. Please remember that I have some standards for coachees:
  1. watch your coaching page closely, and reply to every post there in a timely fashion
  2. fill in all of your edit summaries (if you find yourself forgetting, there's a setting in "my preferences" that will remind you)
  3. complete all the assignments you are given to the best of your ability. If you have trouble with an assignment, by all means, let me know, so we can discuss possible solutions and alternatives.
  4. don't go for your RfA or accept an RfA nomination except from me - I will nominate you when I believe you are ready.
