MSP

Hello, Gopher backer. I noticed you are working on Minneapolis-St. Paul climate and realized it has a prominent link in Minnesota. I will try to look for a few images for sections without them. By the way, someone added a new temperature chart to Minneapolis so I added Celsius and rounded down to zero decimal places (making it easier to read maybe, though it may still be complicated looking). Best wishes. -Susanlesch 06:27, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I changed a couple of shared refs in MSP to individual refs (because someone asked for this during the Mpls. peer review-- they didn't want to search a page of links for the right one, quite understandably). Also, I moved the table in MSP's "The region" section up to be the infobox. If you have a second could you possibly take a look at that page just to be sure that the infobox and table of contents and first sections are in the right position? Here's hoping that whatever caused the blank page for you recently won't happen again. -Susanlesch 15:54, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: F5 tornadoes

I must have missed it. If you have the Grazulis list feel free to remove the tag since you've verified it, or I could do it once I get back to my book next week. -RunningOnBrains 00:24, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Gophers Basketball

Hey, thanks for the help with the Gophers basketball article. I'm in the midst of getting a season by season table back through at least the Haskins Era ready in a Word file to copy in, so that'll be my next project for it. I was wondering if you happened to have sources handy for some of the scandal related stuff. I'll be happy to dig some up if you don't have them accessible; I just expect someone to come along and tag it with the 'citation needed' thing because of Haskins' living person bio stuff. I think there's one citation that could work on the Gangelhoff article I wrote, I'll double check that one after I get the record table up and running. Also, if you're starting work on another section, be sure to let me know so we don't duplicate our efforts! Thanks! matt91486 01:35, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Sometime in the next week, I'll wander over to campus during the day to get a picture of Williams and the Armory to include. I just have to go there during the day, I've only been there at night lately. That way we can get a little more flash into the article. Anyway, tomorrow I'll put together some stuff on the early years; some for the rivals section as well on the early rivalries with Hamline and the St. Paul campus before it was merged in. I just was curious as to what you thought in regards to including a table of Gophers NBA players like I did in the Tulsa article. Let me know what you think; there are obviously a few more Minnesota players so it would be bigger. I can't decide if it would be too bulky to include or not. matt91486 07:07, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Meteorology articles

I see you have been assessing/reassessing some articles. While you have done a pretty good job, you should know that all assessments for class or importance, whether Start, Stub, Low, Top, etc., must be Capitalized, or else Mathbot will miss them when going through the assessments. Just letting you know; Happy editing! -RunningOnBrains 17:40, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Re:Questions

I have included syntax in the {{severe}} template so that the assessment will appear under both the meteorology and severe weather lists, so definitely replace the {{meteorology}} template with {{severe}}. As for importance, I set up a loose guide on the project talk page, but if you feel more specific guidelines are needed we could work it up as a group discussion there. Happy editing! -RunningOnBrains 18:10, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Texas A&M

Howdy! First of, I on behalf of the editors of the Texas A&M University page would like to thank you for taking the time to peer review our page. We have made a whole lot of changes since the last peer review. We have obtained good article status, and we are a FA nominee. We were just wondering if you could give us a few more comments because of the enormous amount of changes we have made. Thank you so much for your help. As we say at our school Thanks, and Gig em Oldag07 02:35, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I added a few topic for discussion at Talk:Minnesota#Recent_changes_to_article. Can you weigh in with your thoughts? Thanks. Kablammo 18:17, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Flickr images

When uploading flickr images you should probably click "all sizes" and then upload the original size. To do this for existing iamges upload the large size with the same name without filling out nay info. It will replace the existing image with a new one. I fixed Image:Lsupfog.jpg for you already. -Ravedave 03:55, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Also good work on adding categories to your images, but you should make sure the file names are good too. To rename existing images upload the image with a new name and then have the old one deleted using {{badname|Image:new name.jpeg}} -Ravedave 03:59, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
yeah, something like Minnesota Icefishing.jpg rather than Image:338413884 f9f362b75f.jpg. -Ravedave 22:13, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Straight line winds

I'm glad I mentioned straight-line winds on the climate of MN article, the merged article is much better. -Ravedave 04:04, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Two minor comments to be addressed before I pass it, a very good article indeed, well done to you and the other editors involved. The Rambling Man 09:07, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Here in GMT land it's getting late, so I'll do my best to provide some assistance on the fair use rationale tomorrow. If I forget (likely!!), poke me! The Rambling Man 20:29, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Good news, I didn't forget, and I'm pleased to say that I've promoted the article to GA. Well done. The Rambling Man 06:52, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

MSP WL

Thanks. Someone else decided that Twin Cities couldn't be claimed by Minneapolis-Saint Paul since there are many other twin cities in the world. I thought he was probably right, so proceeded to change the ~400 links, and found absolutely none with "T" "C" that meant anything other than MSP, which in retrospect probably means it shouldn't have been changed. Oh well - this will work.--Appraiser 15:17, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Flooding

I was surprised you hadn't done any editing on August 2007 Minnesota Wisconsin flooding, but I see that you updated the records page. I heard on MPR that it was the most deadly flash flood in MN history, I haven't looked anything up though. -Ravedave 04:50, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I found the link from the current events page off the main page. The records are crazy! I can't believe how it just rained and rained and rained. The northwoods didn't get much though, and they needed it. MPR had originally said 17 inches of rainfall, that would have been amazing. -Ravedave 05:11, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Flood pics

Photos taken by government employees are fully the public domain, so anything can be done by them. Cutting the caption off would be the way to go for sure. Some of the pics on that page say "coutesy of" so you may want to shy away from them, their legal status is sort of hazy. It looks like there are some better pics up now too, like this one. List of Minnesota state parks

Hello, I'm trying to get List of Minnesota state parks to featured status, all I need is for people to review the facts about the parks. I made a work list of parks split into groups of 7 on the talk page, any help would be appreciated. Thanks! -Ravedave 04:04, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, you uploaded this image as a postcard from early 20th century. I would like to use the image in the German WP but actually since fair use does not exist in the German WP the only way to do so is per Gentlemen's agreement if and only if it was definitely created before December 31, 1906. Do you have the original to look up, whether the postcard was sent by post and there's a datum on it, e.g. by the post office? Thanks for your help in advance, if any. --Matthiasb-DE 08:59, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

TCF Bank Stadium

I definitely believe there should be an opposition section, even if short. I think the big deal was where the money came from rather than the stadium or location. As far as FA goes... hrm. Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter ran into some opposition because it hadn't started it's primary science mission. However, your track record with Climate of Minnesota shows that you don't let your FA's sit and rot. I personally think you have a 50/50 shot even if you wrote a great article. -Ravedave 04:54, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Govt. sites

I had no idea either. When I saw names on those pictures, I clicked "disclaimers" at the bottom - and walla! It looks like all these pics are fair game. I included the disclaimer verbatim in case someone else's interpretation is different from mine. Good luck!--Appraiser 18:38, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

the infobox looks good. I like the picture as well it would be nice if all of the trophy games had pictures of the trophies Smith03 23:10, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

I was just about to send a message to Shell Kinney regarding the rationale for Image:Iowa Hawkeyes Logo.svg. I'm sorta new here so I guess I was wondering whether or not I could add the rationale in case the original uploader did not. It's an important image so major thanks for adding the rationale. Hi, I was wondering if you might have more input on casualty numbers in the above linked article. See this talk page section. Thanks. IvoShandor 03:13, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Gopher backer. Great article for the university stadium! Hope this is okay. Yesterday when the U received its largest private gift ever in sports I rearranged and simplified the outline a bit but didn't really finish. The lead could probably explain how long football has been off campus and who's paying for what. If the photos (which could be seen as a bit of a stretch) don't help I don't mind at all if they come out. Do you think a table or chart of funding sources would be good or too much? I didn't find a source yet for the percent overall that students will pay, or a source for the 45 percent of the U share being covered by the land sale (that number comes from dividing 50 by 111). We could also add more about UMore Park, and something from the City Pages article and/or the EPA superfund record, demolition of the Metrodome, and if there is controversy about the naming rights approach to funding. Just some thoughts. Really fun to read this article. Congratulations on GA by the way! -Susanlesch 13:13, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Demolition of the Metrodome? Did I miss something important?--Appraiser 19:08, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
One version from Star Tribune (June) says demolition can't start "until 2010". I thought I saw Gill on About.com mention the thought (not hers) too. Appraiser, I don't know. Getting Our Fix —Weiner, Jay. Minnesota Monthly (November) is quite interesting. Any other views?
Gopher backer, thanks much for your note. I will at least try to finish up what was on my mind. Hope you enjoy your part-break. -Susanlesch 20:08, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Flooding again

Hi, you did some pretty significant work on 2007 Midwest flooding if I remember correctly. A member of the League of Copyeditors did some editing for us and had a question about the Minnesota section on the talk page, it would be great if you could check it out. I have also added a to-do list (may need a few items added still) at the bottom of the talk page, most of which I can go ahead and knock out, but if you would like to jump in and help, please do.

A little off-topic question

Since you're a meteorologist, can you tell me exactly what these maps mean? [2] I know that the different 'mb' maps represent different levels of the atmosphere, but my questions are on are the 850 mb (how far above the surface is that generally?) and the "2M Temperature, 2M Relative Humidity,& 10M Wind" (what exactly is that? Is this supposed to be close to a surface map?) Thanks in advance! Gopher backer 21:43, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Those are model derived fields. 2 meters just is a rounded measurement of the usual height temperature/moisture is measured near ground level (1.5 meters). Just think of it as the temperature and relative humidity you see reported on the news. Models themselves still don't have a good handle of 2 meter temperature, which is why MOS (model output statistics) still exist. 10 meters is just the standard height of wind measurement. When you hear on the news that the wind is south at 10 mph, it is at the 10 meter (33 foot) level. Sorry about the delay in the response. Thegreatdr 11:49, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

CKimpson

Looks like a mere run-of-the-mill editing accident to me. I mean, considering that I've blocked him for actual disinformation, this is really nothing. Maybe just leave him a quick reminder to better check his edits, but he hasn't really been editing a lot lately. Thanks for the heads up anyway, and sorry I didn't get to it before. Season's Greetings

Season's Greetings from my hometown, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Boy times have changed since, I think it was about 1994. So much overhead to lug around, but nothing the woman I met in the San Diego DMV couldn't write around in about 2 seconds with something called "ST Include" for Windows. Only kidding, I forgot the program's name but writing around an operating system would be quite easy for someone who completed studies in India recently. Best wishes for the new year from someone who recognizes your name from Wikipedia. And you helped me so much in about one email. -Susanlesch (talk) 19:49, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
