License tagging for Image:Plumedknight.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Plumedknight.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:11, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Please use edit summaries

Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be low:

Edit summary usage for Wpktsfs: 10% for major edits and 50% for minor edits. Based on the last 31 major and 4 minor edits in the article namespace.

Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 04:35, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

delete

Regarding image:42nd_district_title.jpg, I would use {{speedy}} or {{ifd}}. --evrik (talk) 19:15, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

About SFS

hey uhhh.. i did not take that picture, however feel free to take any pictures of sfs from my photosite and put them on this site www.flickr.com/photos/samccone --samccone

Hippoquarium pics

if anyone has any pictures of the Toledo Zoo Hippoquarium, please download it to the wiki and put it on the page. Thanks! Wpktsfs 20:08, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for making this page! I visited the Hippoquarium pretty much right after one of the babies was born, I think about 10 years ago, and really loved it. I sure wish more zoos would get the funding to improve their hippo enclosures. I'll look through some old albums to see if I have any pictures, but like I said, they'd be about 10 years old. --JayHenry 05:51, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Thank you so much, the hippoquarium is a great attraction at the Toledo Zoo, and I am glad my reigon can offer it to its visitors. Please, if you find any pictures, add them, it would enhance the article very much. Wpktsfs 19:01, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

But of course I will edit The Lion King! It'd be my pleasure. I will start just as soon as I finish writing this. Never be afraid to ask me to edit something. It's my passion, and I love helping. *is off to edit now* Saber girl08 22:40, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I finished. There were no typographical errors, but I did do some capitalization. Overall, the article was very good! Saber girl08 22:56, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

I looked at the other articles. The first two had some minor spelling errors (not many though), and the last one had no errors at all. Those pages look wonderful! Have a wonderful day. Also, thank you for reviewing me. ^_^
Saber girl08 20:50, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

On your most recent edit [1] of the One SeaGate article tonight, you un-fixed my correction to the capitalization on the "External links" section header. Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the guidelines in the Manual of Style for Headings, but they specify that only "the first letter of the first word and any proper nouns" are capitalized in headings. --Kralizec! (talk) 00:48, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

One SeaGate

Hi, the image was deleted because you uploaded it as a "fair use image of an existing building", which automatically tags the image for deletion. Wikipedia policy doesn't allow fair use images if they could be replaced by free images, and that's almost always the case with existing buildings. If you live in Toledo, you could go down and take a picture yourself, and upload that under a free license. Or you can go to WP:MATCH#Ohio and make a request there. In addition, you can add {{reqphotoin|Ohio}} to the talk page, which will put it in Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Ohio. —Angr 07:59, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Rename? (copied from Maumee River Crossing talk page)

I am curious what people think about moving this page to Veterans' Glass City Skyway as this is the official name. I know the standard is to name the article the most common name, but I am curious whether Maumee River Crossing is still the most common name. I am not sure when the official name appeared, but it seems that it is becoming the name more often used. Toledo residents (Toledoans? Toledoites?) would probably know what people there call it. Polypmaster 04:16, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

As a Toledoan, I am not sure either. The bridge has no locally accepted name. Many people call it the Maumee River Crossing, Veterans' Glass City Skyway, or even "the skyway" and "the bridge" However, I think the page should be moved to Veterans' Glass City Skyway, with a redirect on the Maumee River Crossing page. My reasons are as follows:
  • Veterans' Glass City Skyway is the official name
  • Maumee River Crossing is not an up-to-date name for the project
  • Veterans' Glass City Skyway will logically become the most common name when used on signs, opening day activites, and other propoganda

I hope this helps, and I invite other Toledoans to join in and leave their imput. --wpktsfs 19:25, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for sending me the MOS link and the rest of the information. I hatd no idea, and I needed that. Much of it had information that I did not know. I will try to fix my articles to fit these guidlines. Thanks again. - Hmwith

Infoboxes

Is there a certain one you use for schools other than universities? Which one would I use? Hmwith 05:51, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Holy See

Is the term "Holy See" a synonym for "Vatican City?" --wpktsfs 19:23, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

See Holy See. --Kainaw (talk) 19:25, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
"Holy See" is sometimes used as a synonym for Vatican City; this usage is somewhat incorrect as technically speaking there's a difference which you can read about in the link Kainaw provided. --JayHenry 19:27, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Notability

If they're not notable enough for Wikipedia, they can be deleted if people think that they should be. Some might be interesting JUST to Toledo people, but obviously no one else. Thanks for the advice!

As for Being There Magazine, I found that in Wikipedia's most wanted articles. I couldn't find anymore info on it... but I tried to create one that hopefully other people who know more about that magazine can add onto. Hmwith 21:27, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Swimming

I am trying to create a wikiproject that deals with swimming, and sports based on swimming. I noticed on the swimming talk page you asked for a better swimming picture, and a project like this would bring like minded people together to improve articles, and make moves on suggestions like yours. As a fellow swimmer, I would like to invite you to join. Please add your name here if you are interested. See you around the pool, --wpktsfs 01:38, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

It's very difficult to get pictures of the stars that are public domain. Not many Wiki-ites would fight their way to the front! I'm more interested in amateur water polo, and I find the existing article is 'star' based. I wonder if the Wiki would eventually incorporate small video clips, since I have some classical techniques. (Sort of an educational u-tube!) --Zeizmic 15:13, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
The present Water polo article has several "non-star" photos, including some I took myself, mostly of games at the high school level. The problem with getting photos of the well-known swimmers and polo players is not lack of available photos, but Wikipedia's policies, at least as interpreted by the hard core admins that patrol the images. About half of the the photos that I posted on water polo players from the 2004 USA olympic team have been deleted, even though the olympic site allowed downloading, because the powers at Wikipedia abhor images provided as publicity photos. One of the admins deleting a publicity shot I posted actually said it was being deleted since the subject was still alive and it was therefore possible to get non-commercial photo. Now, what is the chance of you or I getting a closeup photo of Michael Phelps ourselves? It's embarrassing to edit a good Wikipedia article, but the only way to show an illustration or photo is to link to a another website that has some photos. Ryanjo 17:22, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
I believe I'll be joining the rest of the people interested in the "Swimming" article. Thanks for asking me. Meldshal42 16:54, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Sure...I can't promise devotion, but I certainly added my name. Cheers, thanks for the invite! Tingalex 18:55, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Excellent idea!! Many, many other sports have their own WP. I think it is now the time for all watersports especially swimming have its own WP. Cheers -- Ianblair23 (talk) 00:22, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the invite, it's time swimming made a splash in the real world and on Wikipedia. Also feel free to help maintain Portal:Swimming. I have many topics I am interested in and it is certainly a welcome prospect of having more people maintaining the swimming articles. Great to see the cutting edge developments at the latest WC. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:48, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Water polo

Okay, this is completely unrelated to Wikipedia, but I can only assume that you went to SFS, and I see that you're a water-polo player. I've had about 97432 friends on SFS's waterpolo/swim teams, and I've gone to many of the games and meets, so I realized that I'm pretty sure that I know you or have at least seen you before. Weird? Hmwith 10:31, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Completely unrelated, but if I am putting up an infobox on how many edits I have made, is it how many edits in general or on how many different articles? Hmwith 19:16, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar

I'm not sure exactly where I add barnstars. I think I'm supposed to just put it on your main page, which I did. I didn't want to mess up your perfect formatting, so feel free to move it. But thanks for everything you're doing for me, even while on your WikiBreak! Hmwith 16:49, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Question

When you look at the recent edits on "my watchlist", what do the (-74) or (+3214) mean? - Hmwith 19:35, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Given name

That is hilarious. I thought it had been vandalized at first or something. Ha. - Hmwith 23:49, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry

And thanks for letting me know. I didn't realise there were specific guidelines for using the 'minor' marker, I'll exercise more discretion using it in future. Nova Prime 05:26, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

COSI Toledo

Thanks for letting me know. That was just a start for the article, since one didn't exist yet at all, and I was hoping people could help me with it and I would continue to edit it. - hmwith 12:01, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Swimming contradiction

No problemo thanks for finding out. Wolfmankurd 19:45, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Edit summary

Thanks for the reminder. Quite often, I'll click submit, then realize that I forgot one, but it's too late. I need to get into a habit of it. - hmwithtalk 12:00, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

I had no idea that existed. Amazing. Thanks! - hmwithtalk 18:54, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Sig

I think that it's okay for 2 reasons:

  • With the date, it takes up about 2.5 lines (only 2.25 without the date)
  • I stole the exact same template from an admin (just changed username/colors)

If an admin uses it, it should be okay, right? - hmwithtalk 09:13, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, if an admin mentioned it or something, I would change it immediately. - hmwithtalk 23:18, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

MV not Catholic

Yeah, I know. It doesn't say it is? I just says it's private. But I didn't add Maumee Valley? - hmwithtalk 21:10, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Haha, it's fine. You know me, I need reminders. I went back and double-checked at first, assuming that you were correct. That paragraph has a lot of confusing wording. Thanks for the heads up though! - hmwithtalk 23:02, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Wikiproject Swimming.... YAY!

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that my mind is also feeling much better working on our Wikiproject because it also takes my mind away from the Virginia Tech Killings. But, I also started an article about the killer, go see it at Cho Seung-Hi. Peace. Meldshal42 11:20, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

The Running Man Barnstar
Thanks for creating WikiProject Swimming, and contributing a lot! Lemonflash 22:23, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I thought I should give this to you here, instead of your awards page.--Lemonflash 22:23, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

It's been a while

Hi, it's been a while since we've talked, but congratulations on your second barnstar! You've just racking them up.

On an unrelated note, I was wondering when users graduate from the adopt-a-user programs. Is it just when the two think the adoptee's ready? Do you think I'm ready? - hmwithtalk 03:48, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Are you there? I see you've been on Wikipedia since I sent you that message. What do you think? - hmwithtalk 20:38, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for being annoying or pushy! Thanks though. I'm so excited. You were the best adopter, and I hope you decide to adopt more new editors in the future. If I have any questions in the future, you'll be the first person to whom I come. - hmwithtalk 10:19, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Quick thing-

Today I added a lot of new swimmers to our WikiProject. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks Meldshal42

Question for an expert

Do you think I have enough edits and credits(unintentional ryhme)to become an administrator or sysop? Please be honest; tell me if you don't think I'm ready, I'm looking for constructive criticsism. Thank you, Meldshal42 00:57, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

New WikiProject

Hey,Wpktsfs. Don't you think there should be a WikiProject Drama or something? I know you're interested in that kind of stuff,so;do you want to join me in creating it? Meldshal42 11:02, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Re:Macintosh

Good. I checked it on my mom's home computer, with a normal, non-laptop-sized screen, and it was completely distorted. Things that were supposed to be side-by-side were above/below each other. I was very upset. I'd still want to personally check it out to see if it's the same on there as it is on my laptop, because, although it may not looked messed-up, it may not look the way it was intended - hmwithtalk 23:54, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar

I got my first barnstar today! Thanks for helping me along the way! - hmwithtalk 03:08, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you so much for the barnstar, as well! I really appreciate it. =) hmwithtalk 05:45, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Re:Thanks

You're welcome! Good luck on your editor review; and I hope that you can become an admin! Meldshal42 00:06, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Nomination

Hi Hayley, Thank you very much for my nomination. I personally feel, however, that I am not prepared for adminship quite yet. Good luck with your nomination. --wpktsfs 00:49, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

By the looks of it, I haven't been a registered user for long enough, but thanks! hmwithtalk 01:56, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Since you were my adopter, on what do you think that I could improve? I would love to become a better editor, and everything counts. Thanks in advance! hmwithtalk 02:06, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

I indented your struck comment here, as it was showing up as a double vote. —AldeBaer 23:16, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

I agree

I agree with you completely. I don't believe I am truly enough of a user to become an admin yet, but I hope that one day; I will have enough credits to become an admin. Thnaks also for your kind, encouraging comment. Thanks for everything! Meldshal42 00:11, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: Good Luck

It didn't pass, but I will see what the future holds. I'll just use this time to become a better editor. hmwithtalk 04:17, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Can I ask what that means? Because I'm sure it's some uplifhting, inspiring comment, haha. hmwithtalk 04:24, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the uplifting words. I needed them right now. I really like that quote. hmwithtalk 04:32, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

RE:Picture

Salut Cody, I am asking permission to use your pictue of Aix-en-Provence on my userpage. Please respond back on my talk page. Merci. --wpktsfs 01:06, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Bien sûr! Tu peut aussi regarder plus de mes œuvres ici. Je n'ai pas mettre tous sur la wikipedia. --Cody.Pope 08:52, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you for the birthday message. I've also left some comments on your editor review. Waltonalternate account 09:19, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
