Welcome

[edit]

Hello Wpittman, and welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

Your recent article Wesley Pittman has been marked for deletion. Since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, there are many types of articles that are simply viewed as not appropriate for Wikipedia. Before spending more time on articles, you may want to review Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with learning to edit by writing articles on you or your friends, but you should do it in the Wikipedia sandbox or on your own user page.

Here are a few more good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!. -- DS1953 17:19, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia.

A few things to keep in mind, though: everything is supposed to be neutral and cited from sources. We're also not allowed to just copy from other sites unless the text is clearly public domain or released for such use. (This avoids legal trouble.) So I did replace the content you added with what we call a "stub", a very short (but expandable!) article. I realize the stub may look biased because such a large proportion covers the accreditation issue, but that's actually just boilerplate text we put in every article about unaccredited schools. If you want to add more, please do. Just keep it inside the content guidelines. A.J.A. 20:24, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your article Ambassador baptist college has been deleted because it is a clear copyright infringement from http://www.ambassadors.edu/About/history.php . DJ Clayworth (talk) 17:46, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise your article Tabernacle Baptist College is a copy of http://tbc.sc/college/ . Please do not post copyright works on Wikipedia. It is illegal and they will be deleted. If you wish to write articles please do so in your own words. DJ Clayworth (talk) 17:48, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Wesley Pittman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Wpittman! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 481 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Harold B. Sightler - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
