FAC withdrawn

[edit]

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the Santosh Subramaniam article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. You might consider first working the article up through peer review and good article candidacy to prepare for its nomination. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:15, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for File:POTC 3-D Filming.jpg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:POTC 3-D Filming.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Fair use rationale for File:NT3 official logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:NT3 official logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 10:56, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Last Airbender

[edit]

Hello, two editors disagree with your draft for The Last Airbender. It is best to go through the different parts of it and see what we all think can be used. For example, I restored a template and several categories. I also wrote a "Premise" section based on a ComingSoon.net reference. Please see Talk:The Last Airbender#Fresh Start for why other parts of your draft are rejected. —Erik (talkcontrib) 15:25, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nightmare on Elm Street

[edit]

I reverted your move of the original film's page name. At this time, there is no other film out that shares that name, AND has a page on Wikipedia. Per WP:NFF, until the remake both enter production (which it has not yet) AND the production itself has become notable, only then will we create a page for it. Until then, it is sitting safely at A Nightmare on Elm Street (franchise)#Future, just like the sequel to Rob Zombie's Halloween is sitting at Halloween (franchise)#Future until its production becomes notable. I noticed your sandbox for the Nightmare remake, and that's cool, I just ask you to respect the WP:NFF before you try and move that into the mainspace.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 11:38, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again, per WP:NFF, the production must be notable itself. That means there must be coverage of the production itself beyond trivial information. If you look at the link I provided above, at the information we already have, there isn't enough to warrant a new page (hence they the 2010 title was already redirected). When the time comes we'll correct this, but at this time no page is warranted. The reason you cannot move your page (i.e. I assume you're asking for help because you got an error message when you tried to move the page) is because the original title already has an edit history for it. Because of that, the site does not allow other pages to be moved overtop of the original page. When the time comes we can put in a request to have this fixed, but that is unnecessary at this time because the production isn't notable enough to have a page of its own.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 12:15, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability guidelines for future films

[edit]

Hello, regarding your recreation of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, please read the link above. I will reiterate the relevant portion that explains why the stand-alone article should not exist yet: "Films that have not been confirmed by reliable sources to have commenced principal photography should not have their own articles. Budget issues, scripting issues and casting issues can interfere with a project well ahead of its intended filming date. The assumption should also not be made that because a film is likely to be a high-profile release it will be immune to setbacks—there is no "sure thing" production. Until the start of principal photography, information on the film can be included in articles about its subject material. Sources must be used to confirm the start of principal photography after shooting has begun." That is why we are redirecting to the film adaptation section at the book's article. You have been reverted by a number of editors, so I ask you to refrain from recreating the article. —Erik (talkcontrib) 17:22, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:National Treasure 3 press interview.jpg)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:National Treasure 3 press interview.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. MGR? Says who?

[edit]

MGR is not a film. This was something resolved in Wikipedia long ago. Vijay's next film is announced and titled Urimai Kural, which is the title of an old MGR film, and is supposed to be directed by Perarasu. Also, how can a Tamil film be titled "MGR" when there is the tax exemption law in place where no producers would be willing to give a movie title in English? Once again, MGR is not a film and please do not change that on the Joseph Vijay page. This was a dispute resolved long ago here on Wikipedia. Eelam StyleZ (talk) 13:36, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We know Vijay is a fan of MGR, but that doesn't mean MGR is going to be the title of his film. It will never be a title because it is in English. That is a simple fact--Tamil movies won't have English titles anymore. You want proof, I'll give you proof. [1] That explains it all. Also you haven't sourced anything on the Joseph Vijay page; all you are doing is making your own claims. In case you don't know, that is not citing sources. Eelam StyleZ (talk) 11:45, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well nothing has confirmed the title of Vijay's next movie. Every site only claims it to be Urimai Kural. But I am 100% sure the title can never be MGR... that is not a Tamil title. MGR was only a fake movie shown in the movie Pandhayam. Eelam StyleZ (talk) 11:56, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, look, if you really think that Vijay's next movie is going to be called MGR then wait for official confirmation. Official confirmation means news by liable sources, such as IndiaGlitz, Behindwoods or Sify and/or a film launch of a movie called MGR. But for the last time, there is no such movie as MGR. So don't try to create an article called "MGR (film)" and don't add it to the Joseph Vijay page, unless you have official proof and source. Eelam StyleZ (talk) 23:24, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I, Robot GAN

[edit]

I removed the nomination for GA for the I, Robot article. There are numerous issues that need to be addressed before it should be nominated again. I have listed them on the talk page. Please take a look, and good luck with improving the article. Let me know if you have any questions. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 23:58, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Urimai Kural

[edit]

Mr. World Cinema Writer, you apparently created a new article on Vijay's newly announced movie Urimai Kural. I suspect you are the person who was previously using the account "User:Thulasi12345" and convicted of sockpuppetry. I believe this might be your second chance in having a legitimate account.

Let me tell you one thing when writing new film acticles. Please, please, please... do not create new film articles that did not yet have an official announcement, film pooja or begin filming. In Wikipedia, film articles can only be created when they have been officially announced or have begun filming. Otherwise, an administrator will consider deleting the article. Right now, your article on Urimai Kural may be considered for deletion by an adiminstrator soon. If it does get nominated, please don't try re-creating the article. Always wait until the film is officially announced or has begun filming. An official announcement means either Vijay or director M. Raja has spoken about it in the media and it is being shown on websites, newspapers and TV extensively. But the best time to create an article is when the filming of the film has begun. Please fully read and understand Wikipedia:Notability (films). Thanks. Eelam StyleZ (talk) 11:54, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you keep it in your sandbox page until the filming starts, rather than publishing it ahead of time. And I think I'm not the only one who thinks you're User:Thulasi12345 (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Urimai Kural (2010 film)). Eelam StyleZ (talk) 00:28, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While Universal Hero's comment was inappropriate, so was your response. You may wish to show that you are the better person by being the first to go back and redact your remarks or apologizing. -- The Red Pen of Doom 05:34, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You as much as called him an idiot, that is a personal attack to me. I cant make you (nor do I wish to force you) to redact your statement. However, your refusal to do so does tell me what kind of a person you are and will color all my future interpretations of your conduct. -- The Red Pen of Doom 05:47, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed - I had already left a note on his talk page indicating that he should not be making accusations of sockpuppetry. -- The Red Pen of Doom 06:00, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Universal Hero and Eelamstylez77 have both once again made very clear their very valid concerns [ [2] about your contributions. I hope you take their requests for you to conform to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines when editing articles to heart. -- The Red Pen of Doom 12:20, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Peace

[edit]

Hi,

I am aware that you indeed the blocked editor Thulasi". It is evident as:

  • You and he are the only ones who have heard of such a film as "MGR", and the reasons the pair of you tried to explain as well as your misunderstandings of common Wikipedia rules are identical.
  • Moreover, you share a similiar edit pattern with him and make extensive source links, most of which are irrelevant as seen on your user pages of films.
  • However, I'm sure we're willing to compromise with you, if you edit all your articles to make them stable as like Unnale Unnale, Sivaji, Bommarillu and so forth, and remove extensive fake articles.
  • Moreover, it would be highly appreciated if you didn't go around believing everything that you read, considerin 50% of news on those Tamil websites are false such as your insistence that Jayam Raja is directing Vijay's 50th film. Recently he has come out and refused this on video.

Please co-operate.

Making articles look good

[edit]

I just read your little comment about me and Universal Hero on The Red Pen of Doom's talk page. It is the task of every editor on Wikipedia to make articles to not just look good but also be good.

Let me make things clear for you and I hope what I say is clear. Universal Hero and I don't "combine" to rule Tamil articles and make other editors look bad. If someone creates an article that abides Wikipedia laws and achieves criteria, we do not change those articles or have problems with them. We have had several concerns with you in the past and I agree with what Universal Hero wrote above. We change and delete your articles because they are FALSE NEWS and NOT REAL. As long as you try to make it clear to yourself that the articles you create contain false information and improve your editing skills, we won't have a problem with you. I also took the time and advise you on your talk page and plead you to not create false articles and advise you in better editing and you now made personal attacks on me and other editors here. Enough is enough -- obey Wikipedia laws while you're here or please don't bother editing. Thanks. Eelam StyleZ (talk) 21:45, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, your article on MGR was. Also, Urimai Kural doesn't pass notability requirements, which is why it's going to be deleted. Eelam StyleZ (talk) 20:55, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Chennai Online requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. R'n'B (call me Russ) 19:21, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Casino Royale screenshot

[edit]

I removed the image you uploaded (File:Bond persuade Vesper.jpg) from the Casino Royale article as well as your user page. Since the screenshot is a non-free image, it is not to be included on user space. In addition, screenshots cannot be added to film articles just to embellish the plot. Non-free images need to be used for critical commentary (such as addressing the special effects, filming style, controversy, etc.) detailed in the text. For further details, see here or take a look at some of the current film FAs (especially the more recent ones).

As a side note, I noticed on your talk page that you list your collaborations. Usually editors designate collaborations when they improve an article alongside an other editor(s) in bringing an article up to a certain threshold (such as GA/FA). The fact that you include Casino Royale as a collaboration (when it reached FA in 2008), may confuse people reading your page. I'm not telling you that you should change it (it's your user space and you're free to do as you wish, so long as it doesn't conflict with user page guidelines), but just to let you know what other editors may misinterpret your claims.

Anyway, if you have any questions about the above items let me know and I'll be happy to answer your questions. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 07:46, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No need for deleting Angus

[edit]

It appears that the version of the article that you saw [3] was merely a temporarily vandalized version which has been restored to conditions which (at first glance at least) appear to meet our guidelines for articles and so it doesnt need to be deleted. -- The Red Pen of Doom 23:20, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dasavathaaram

[edit]

Hi,

Just noticed your DYK nom for Dasavathaaram. I dont know if you are familiar with DYK rules or not. May I suggest an alternate hook: "... that Kamal Haasan plays ten different roles in Dasavathaaram?". The current hook does not look that interesting(every director will have an nth film! right?). Also you need to provide an inline citation in the article for the hook. It is best placed after the hook line itself. --Deepak D'Souza 12:45, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, I should have looked at it more closely. The nomination has been turned down. One of the rules is that the article should not be more than 5 days old. For articles which are more than 5 days old you can nominate it if you have expanded it more than 5 times it previous size in less than 5 days. Better luck next time. If you are planning to create any new articles(with an interesting hook) it would be good to plan it in such a way that you will be able to complete it in 5 days(your new article should contain at least 1500 charachters to qaulify for DYK). Hope that helps. --Deepak D'Souza 18:09, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Kanthaswamy audio.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

The article was delisted from Good Article status in January, so it is not a GA anymore, and a GAR is not applicable. Were you attempting to nominate the article for Good Article status instead? If so, I'd strongly discourage doing so when you are not an major contributor to the article beyond a few minor edits, and the many issues the article had when it was delisted have not been addressed. If you were simply seeking feedback on improving the article, I encourage you to read the original GAR delisting and/or send the article to peer review (making sure to follow the instructions carefully). -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 12:52, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Infobox Film Potter requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:24, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Star Trek

[edit]

I've reverted your edit as it breaks far too many MoS guidelines to be useful (and makes the lead far too long). FYI: Don't link dates, don't link common terms (such as worldwide). The consensus is that Nemesis proceeds Star Trek, and if you think this is wrong then take it up at the project page. Premiere is spelt as such and it's means it is, its is the possessive. A poll is taking place on the talk page for A Nightmare on Elm Street, you're are welcome to stress your opinions on the matter. Thank you ---Scarce |||| Talk -Contrib.--- 20:39, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Reviews

[edit]

I'd like to ask you to please stop "conducting" GA reviews at this time. It seems clear you do not know how to properly review an article and the reviews you have given, such as the one here Talk:The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008 film)/GA1 and here Talk:X-Men Origins: Wolverine/GA1 are completely incorrect and actively encouraging editors to make damaging edits to article. Your GA reviews are disruptive and causing nothing but problems to articles and unnecessary hardship for the editors who have to endure them. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:39, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would add further that if you persist in this, I will raise an WP:RfC on your conduct. Jezhotwells (talk) 20:18, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When adding links to material on an external site, as you did to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:58, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
