Rio Olympics Edit-a-thon

[edit]

Dear Friends & Wikipedians, Celebrate the world's biggest sporting festival on Wikipedia. The Rio Olympics Edit-a-thon aims to pay tribute to Indian athletes and sportsperson who represent India at Olympics. Please find more details here. The Athlete who represent their country at Olympics, often fail to attain their due recognition. They bring glory to the nation. Let's write articles on them, as a mark of tribute.

For every 20 articles created collectively, a tree will be planted. Similarly, when an editor completes 20 articles, a book will be awarded to him/her. Check the main page for more details. Thank you. Abhinav619 (sent using MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:54, 16 August 2016 (UTC), subscribe/unsubscribe)[reply]

Japan

[edit]

I think you are mistaken in your revert. That the detailed information is given in other article is not in dispute, what is in question here is whether a casual reader who read this information would assume that this is a native name, which is not readily apparent. This is an important detail because the name is considered pejorative by the Japanese, and using a pejorative name without explanation is wrong and could be considered a POV. Hzh (talk) 12:45, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have add a discussion to the Japan talk page, and I hope you will contribute to its discussion. Hzh (talk) 12:54, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Neophyte (series)

[edit]

The article Neophyte (series) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG. Non-notable video game series. Topic lacks significant coverage from reliable independent sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DYK nomination of Ginza Six

[edit]

Hello! Your submission of Ginza Six at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Vensatry (talk) 09:44, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WoodElf, do you plan to expand this article? It's too short to qualify for DYK as it is now, and if you don't add another few sentences, we cannot include it. Please let us know within the next couple of days; otherwise, the nomination will have to be marked for closure. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:13, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

On 15 September 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ginza Six, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Ginza Six, a new shopping complex in Tokyo, contains artwork by Yayoi Kusama? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ginza Six. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Ginza Six), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. File:Writersbig.jpg needs authorship information

[edit]
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Writersbig.jpg appears to be missing information as to one (or more) of the following :

  1. The author or creators of the work, (including information as to the author's lifespan).
  2. Where and how this particular version was obtained.
  3. When the work was created,

If you did provide such information, it is currently confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|WoodElf}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.

Please also add authorship and sourcing to other files you created or uplopaded. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 13:31, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced or poorly sourced defamatory content into an article or any other Wikipedia page again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Guy (help!) 17:08, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. For the avoidance of doubt: the identity of the whistleblower is a matter of fevered speculation in the right-wing partisan media but we will not cover it unless and until it is in multiple mainstream sources. Wikipedia is not the place to blaze the trail. Guy (help!) 17:10, 9 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I gather from the content above that you're currently skating on thin ice, and we do take BLP very seriously. So here's the thing: do that again and I'll block you from editing. Argue your point by all means, but don't link to, or specify, dodgy allegations. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 13:38, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Self-revert advised

[edit]

You just violated the editing restrictions on Trump-Ukraine scandal, which says:

You must not make more than one revert per 24 hours to this article.
You must not reinstate any challenged (via reversion) edits without obtaining consensus on the talk page of this article.

I suggest you promptly self-revert, otherwise you might end up blocked or topic banned.- MrX 🖋 17:51, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree with MrX here, you violated consensus required. Specifically You must not reinstate any challenged (via reversion) edits without obtaining consensus on the talk page of this article. The history is all muddied right now and it is reverted anyhow. Just something to watch in the future. PackMecEng (talk) 18:15, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

you're right, Fox was already int here. I rmeoved it, we should not be citing anything to Fox about this (or MSNBC or The Hill or anything other than top tier sources like WSJ, WaPo and the like).Guy (help!) 18:04, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad we could resolve this amicably. Having said that, your objection to reliable sources such as The Hill, Fox and MSNBC is extremely concerning. Let me remind you that you got on my case for not citing reliable sources in the first place, and now you've turned on a dime to denounce the very same. I have no choice but to highlight this arbitrary, irrational and abrupt interference to the noticeboard.User:WoodElf 18:13, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
