[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Wolfpussy, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it the "pussy" part of your username might be construed as offensive; may I ask why you chose it?. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. Salvio ( Let's talk 'bout it!) 21:59, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
July 2010
[edit]I chose the username 'Wolfpussy' because it means "predatory canine + kitty" - as in James Bond's Octopussy who was both a dangerous spy and also a very beautiful lady. It represents feminine duality.
Similarly, the combined word such as "pussycat" does not include pornographic connotations...except for those imagined by naughty minds. (smile)

- Yep, ok. Forgive this old naughty mind ^__^ and, if you need anything, you're welcome on my talk page! Salvio ( Let's talk 'bout it!) 23:03, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- Octopussy had clear sexual connotations, as does your name. The cartoon names you mention clearly refer to cats, whereas yours doesn't. Suggest you change your names as this issue will keep coming up. — • Talk • 12:06, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
As clearly expressed in my post exchange with Salvio my username DOES, in fact, refer to a cat - it means "predatory canine + kitty" - and if all other incarnations of compound words with derivatives and/or etymology linked to the word 'pussy' are allowed in Wiki space, I'm very willing to defend this position without changing my own compounded expression of choice...and to exhaustion, if necessary.
The subjectivity of language should not dictate the inherent intention; nor should I be victimized by arbitrary indictments of my free option to title myself, which we all enjoy with a great deal of autonomy here, as free thinkers.
Especially accusations which are uneducated and/or clearly misinformed.
Pussy states firstly that: Pussy is an English word meaning cat.
A wolf is an animal. A pussy is an animal - please enlighten me as to the "sexuality" you so fervently feel I've surreptitiously included. (?)
Moreover, it is 100% my prerogative to point/counterpoint each challenge to this as many times as it "will keep coming up" regardless of the tedium encountered in discussions of these ridiculous attacks toward my intended extra-linguistic purpose. While I assure you that I'm most appreciative, I must politely decline your devoted suggestion regarding a name change, Rlevse.
Conversely, I believe that any Wiki users who view the aforementioned discourse between myself and the kind gentleman Salvio ( Let's talk 'bout it!) yet remain somehow offended, may need a standardized peer evaluation to prove themselves actually cognizant enough as individuals to engage in such a sophisticated and unchaperoned network as this encyclopedic collaborative. (!) Surely, their comprehension should be considered sub par, no? Is there a way to 'flag' users for ignorance or pettiness, herein?
Perhaps we need a hall monitor to direct all the prepubescent/reptilian minds who will visit pages such as boob - twit - Numb Nuts for sneaky hormonal giggles. A Wiki dunce's corner.
Viva entropy. Lexical ambiguity, much?
Regards.

Please do not attack other editors. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you.
The above comments are way out of line. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 19:24, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure as to which "comment" was offensive, but I actually believe the secondary challenge to my username by Rlevse was a personal attack, as well.
After previously defining my username to Salvio ( Let's talk 'bout it!) as nonsexual terminology, why would the poster include that "cartoon names you mention clearly refer to cats, whereas yours doesn't" as if there'd been no discussion, whatsoever...or that my veracity was in question. (?)
Cheers.
Wolfpussy (talk) 19:41, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Then why not change your name to Wolfpussycat to avoid any further confusion? Pussy is potentially offensive because of the dual meaning in slang, of which you are obviously aware. And the NPA warning is because of the comments about the need for peer review, hall monitors and wiki dunces. 69.181.249.92 (talk) 20:00, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
It's not a personal attack but a concern about your username. And if you really don't know the sexual connotation, see this. Another suggestion, if it's for Wolfkitty, change it to Wolfkitty. — Rlevse • Talk • 20:01, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Not to mention the urban meaning [1]. — Rlevse • Talk • 20:12, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
While I'm aware of your position, Talk, I'm still quite puzzled as to your refusal to accept my explanation to Salvio' ( Let's talk 'bout it!) which was so graciously and effortlessly understood.
I provided not only clear explanation, but also several references - which were not all cartoons, might I add.
Your flag of my username, with the express questioning of my integrity in your assertion that my name did not refer to the feline species was a direct challenge to my prior discourse, in fact.
Furthermore, the 'peer review/hall monitors/wiki dunces' comment was tongue-in-cheek and meant to "lighten" the mood; as a relevant joke about reading comprehension portions of standardized testing in schools, which was to distinguish towards all viewers of this dialogue my displeasure in your overt dismissal of the Wolfpussy (talk) 22:55, 7 July 2010 (UTC) conversation...however, maybe an emoticon would have helped, as my nerdy educational system humor was missed. (wink)
Please do not interpret my zeal as offensive, dear friend. (!) I'm simply quite content as my moniker stands and find it unfair that I'm accused of covert vulgarity.

No legal threats
[edit]Your recent edits to User talk:GlassCobra could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. How can the "impression" be given that I would take/am considering actions again Wiki when the:
{{self}}

Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify this document under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 or any later version published by the Free Software Foundation; with no Invariant Sections, no Front-Cover Texts, and no Back-Cover Texts. A copy of the license is included in the section entitled "GNU Free Documentation License".
Which the GNU Free Documentation License explicitly states under the Conditions subsection that:
- All previous authors of the work must be attributed.
- All changes to the work must be logged.
- All derivative works must be licensed under the same license.
- The full text of the license, unmodified invariant sections as defined by the author if any, and any other added warranty disclaimers (such as a general disclaimer alerting readers that the document may not be accurate for example) and copyright notices from previous versions must be maintained.
- Technical measures such as DRM may not be used to control or obstruct distribution or editing of the document.
Therefore...if my image is posted elsewhere without proper accreditation or is being used falsely, under representation of another owner, would it not be infringement of Wiki; the rightful 'home' of my content which I purposely chose to share, exclusively?
Moreover, my request to User talk:GlassCobra for "proof" of this improper usage under these circumstances is SPECIFICALLY Wiki friendly, because it is the protection of my shared agreement with Creative Commons Licenses that I seek to defend.
Please expound.
Best.

another comment on your user name
[edit]Yes it has an innocent reading but given your edits to articles that deal with adult subjects it would be advisable to play safe. Since Felis catus are one of the most popular species around there are no shortage of synonyms you can use to keep your intended meaning although wolfmoggy might not quite be what you are going for.©Geni 20:19, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
While 'wolfmoggy' is cute...it's not at all tender. I'm quite partial to my moniker - regarding which, the discourse makes it actually all the more exciting.
As Octopussy was my intended "simpatico" and not Pussy Galore it's rather interesting that the sexuality of my context is being debated.
Additionally, I've only edited Yung Berg and related music/entertainment pages; therefore, I'm a bit confused as to the mentioned edits you reference with "adult" subject matter.
Please share. (!)
Wolfpussy (talk) 21:34, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- "Octopussy" was intended as a double entendre. Hardly suprising as double entendres are a signfication feautre of the james bond franchise. In fact there was some disscussion at the time as to if they could get away with it's use. "Playboy Radio" would be considered to be an adult topic by most.©Geni 22:06, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- The first line of biography from Octopussy lists:
Octopussy is a jewel smuggler who lives a life of luxury in a floating palace on Lake Pichola in Udaipur, India. Her father, Major Dexter Smythe, studied octopodes, hence her nickname Octopussy.
Thus, the "controversy" was - like my username - a product of interpretation.
Also, my edit to Playboy Radio was limited to the launch of a program my favorite performer Yung Berg was recently featured on; and not at all sexualized, tawdry, or adult in nature.
I believe we are now involved in a debate of semantics.
Wolfpussy (talk) 22:31, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sigh. That is the in universe explantion. It's fairly transparent where the name comes from and the production team was well aware of this. This is james bond we are talking about. Are you seriously trying to maintain the position it was anything other than a highly suggestive double entendre?©Geni 22:34, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately, my late arrival into this world [1981] prevented me from employment with the creative genius of production on Octopussy and I totally missed the gig. (sigh)
Funny that the film was cleared and in wide release almost 30 years ago...yet online, in this "enlightened" age of modern times, a mere username of the same title is inappropriate.
In closing, while I can't speak for James Bond or associates, to answer your query: YES. I'm very, very seriously maintaining and defending my position that the username I've chosen is 100% nonfreaky. (!)

Username discussion
[edit]Hello, Wolfpussy. Concerns have been raised that your username may be incompatible with policy. You can contribute to the discussion about it at the page for requests for comment on usernames. Alternatively, if you agree that your username may be problematic and are willing to change it, it is possible for you to keep your present contributions history under a new name. Simply request a new name at Wikipedia:Changing username following the guidelines on that page, rather than creating a whole new account. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:37, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
I've requested a change to Wolfpuss - congratulations to all dirty thinkers in our community. (!) I submit to your naughtiness.

- I see no problem with the name, and I said as much of RfC page. I suspect the maturity level as well as the self-righteous and self-importance of some will mean you will have to change your user name, however. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 04:40, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

A helpful hint
[edit]Hey I noticed that two sections above, someone posted the code for a smiley face to help you out. Unfortunately, if you just post the code, it'll display as the actual smiley and you'll have to edit the page to see the code itself. But by typing <nowiki> before the code and </nowiki> after it, you can display just the code. Example: <nowiki>{{=)}}</nowiki> produces, not a smiley, but the code for a smiley. Hope this made sense to you; I'm a bit jet-lagged. Oh, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. --- cymru lass (hit me up)⁄(background check) 00:01, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- I was wondering how to do that. Do you happen to know how to post other commands literally (nowiki doesn't work for some codes)? Thanks. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 00:11, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Leaving messages on other user's talk page.
[edit]Here's another tip. When you leave a message on another user's talk page, that page will be automatically "watched". Continue watching it for at least a few days and respond to replies there. It makes a thread easier to follow by keeping it all in one place. With that in mind, I responded to your last reply on my talk page. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 04:42, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Friendly suggestion
[edit]Err, I know that as a WikiPuss you're supposed to have claws, but, if I may so, I'd suggest you to tone down your responses a notch (I'm referring to this one). I understand you may feel pissed and a little bitten, but you came across a bit too confrontational at times, there...
Then, to sign your edits, without having to copy and paste anything, you can go here and paste <span style="text-shadow:red 0.118em 0.118em 0.118em; class=texhtml"> '''[[User:Wolfpussy|Wolfpussy]]'''</span> ([[User talk:Wolfpussy| Let's talk 'bout it!]]) in the "signature" section and tick Treat the above as wiki markup. - Perhaps quotations around 'petty, sneering mob' would have helped, as I was referencing a similar post to Wiki editing therein and not any users directly.
Sneering mob = Grinning thugs:
What a disgusting, disgusting, disgusting spectacle. It was a valid topic. The new editor was treated like shit. Shit. Most of the editors involved in this tawdry lynching behaved like grinning mindless thugs. And some of you were worse, you behaved like sadistic pious beaurocrats. Ugh. I need a long shower. I thought the 'olive branch-bearing' uptick would address homeostasis in the context; alas, I'm yet a victim of cross-species parentage with a pounce which sometimes seems to go for the jugular, instead of my intended nuzzle. Perhaps, if I'm ever cleared in my "title" bout and free to contribute full-throttle, Wiki space may learn to love my acerbic repartee.

This username kerfuffle
[edit]Hey Wolfpussy, Even though I commented in support of your proposed name change in the related discussion can I make the suggestion that you perhaps amend your request to something like WolfCat. The discussion isn't going well, and I don't expect my comment is likely to change anyone's mind. WolfCat has the advantage of being a name that I don't believe anyone can reasonably object to whilst retaining recognisability with your established online identity, which I understand is important to you, and reasonably so. I'm sure that all you really want right now is to get this thing over with and get on with what you came here to do – edit. Kind regards, and good luck, AJCham 18:46, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- Alternatively, as one of the first rename suggestions you received, WolfKitty. Again, it will be recognisable to existing associates of yours and retains the intended meaning of your username, as well as the intended tone (which WolfCat perhaps loses to an extent). AJCham 19:35, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- By the way, to make the red hand thingy with the "stop" sign around it yet, you have to type
- However, in that case, a {{uw-npa4}} would have been entirely inappropriate; your response, on the contrary, was correct and not even too... Err, scratchy... Salvio ( Let's talk 'bout it!) 19:30, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Username block
[edit]I have closed the discussion regarding your username. The result of the discussion was to disallow your current username. You are welcome to choose another, and encouraged to continue editing. Thank you for your cooperation. --Bongwarrior (talk) 10:09, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Is this standard practice? Couldn't the user have been informed of the decision and allowed to select a new name prior to adding an entry their block log? –xenotalk 15:50, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Not to mention that two discussions were closed as one. I don't dispute that the discussion regarding this user's current name should be closed as disallow, but (acknowledging my own involvement, and possible bias) the second discussion looked more like no consensus to me. In any case the two discussions should be closed separately to make it clear that they have been considered independently. AJCham 16:14, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- I believe that blocking is basically standard operation procedure in such cases, to make sure that the results of the RfC are implemented. Otherwise there is no way of knowing when the user might resume editing and if a username change will be requested then. As with any other account blocked for a username violation (e.g. with those blocked after a UAA report), the user may request a re-name here, at the user talk page. Nsk92 (talk) 16:22, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying. I gather the fact that they haven't edited since the 20th played into the decision. –xenotalk 16:25, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think there was a consensus to disallow, and I think going as far as to block the account on the grounds of the RFC was a bit too heavy handed. JBsupreme (talk) ✄ ✄ ✄ 17:09, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- When a username is disallowed in WP:RFC/N, it is usually blocked by an administrator. The type of block is usually a softblock (allowing them to create a new account), not a hardblock (preventing them from coming back). Bongwarrior chose softblock, as was appropriate. I'd imagine, if the user chooses a different name (other than Pussywolf), and wants to retain their edit history, they will be unblocked for the change. Sometimes admins give the editor a grace period of a few days before blocking, to give the editor a chance to avoid the entry in the block log, but that's an optional courtesy, and depends on if the closing admin feels confident they will be able to watch the account's activity for continued edits under the disallowed name. -kotra (talk) 20:07, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
What happened? (!)
Wolfpussy ( Let's talk 'bout it!) 17:34, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- As best I can tell, the RFCN was closed as disallow (both) and you were blocked as (somewhat-)standard operating procedure. If you have a new name in mind, I can perform the name change and unblock you. –xenotalk 17:36, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
So...no one found any instance of 'Pussywolf' anywhere pertaining to vulgarity/obscenity but it was blocked, anyway?? Because it was "reminiscent" of Wolfpussy? LMAO.
Geez.
Ummmm...I guess I'll be: WikiPuss; since it's on my userpage. I don't care anymore. That whole name situation took all the fun out of this picnic.
Thanks, xeno. (meow)
Wolfpussy ( Let's talk 'bout it!) 17:42, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I will act on entirely uncontroversial names (it would not make sense to rename you just so you can get dragged back to RFC/N), otherwise you can use the {{unblock-un}} template if you are dead-set on 'WikiPuss' to get a second opinion. –xenotalk 17:45, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Someone should have templated you with the below notice. Follow the instructions to be unblocked and usurp WikiPuss. RJ (talk) 22:57, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account. You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Sorry I took so long, lovely ones...my oh-so-significant other returned home safely from Iraq. (!) Alas, I've simply been too busy enjoying treats from OfficerPussy for anything else. (licking paws)
I cannot:
1. Figure out how to unblock myself
2. Figure out how to WP:USURP either - which is TOTALLY my style - thank you, RJ (talk). Brilliant, you are!
Is there a WikiDummy link to make it simple? Or could the admins who banned this account loan me 24 hours of play, since I was unceremoniously dissed during ComicCon weekend with no Wiki fanfare for my valiant effort put forth in defense of Pussy everywhere...maybe, yeah, huh??! (hiss)

How to usurp a username (there is an unblocking request involved)
[edit]Hey. You said you didn't know how to usurp a username, so I stopped by to tell ya how. Place {{usurp|TARGET NAME}}
at the bottom of today's list at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations#Current requests (I hope I spelled usurpations right...). I see you're still blocked, so why don't you ask for a temporary unblock by using the template {{unblock}} {{unblock-un|DESIRED USERNAME}}
on your talk page? I'd recommend that you agree not to make any edits from this username while it's unblocked, except to the page Wikipedia:Changing username. That might increase the chance of your being unblocked to change/usurp a username. Hope this helps! --- cymru lass (hit me up)⁄(background check) 17:48, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
