Dear Vaselineeeeeeee,
Magnolia's primary contention was that CBC News called it #Murderpeg, and did not specifically state that Winnipeg was nicknamed Murderpeg. So I added Spencer Fernando's article indicating that Winnipeg is labelled Murderpeg, at which point Magnolia's issue was that Spencer Fernando's personal blog was not a credible source. Then I added the MacLean's article indicating that Winnipeg is "nicknamed 'Murderpeg'". This is both a credible source, and they used the specific phrasing that Magnolia requested. It is, quite simply, a fact that Winnipeg is nicknamed Murderpeg, due to it routinely being the most violent city in Canada. To ignore this fact does not do anyone any favours. Maybe someday Winnipeg will no longer deserve the nickname of Murderpeg, but that day is not today. Winnie3737 (talk) 14:36, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
I live in Winnipeg, and I have never heard anyone call it "The Gateway to the West". What right do you have to edit a page for a city that you don't live in? You don't even live in this province; How would you know which nicknames are the most common? Please cite your source indicating that Murderpeg is a less common nickname than "The Peg", "Winterpeg", or "Gateway to the West", if you are going to remove my completely credible and common nickname, as an actual resident of this city/province. What is your source for nickname frequency statistics? Winnie3737 (talk) 14:43, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- I've striked my message as it is a little harsh. Please bring this to where you started a discussion at Talk:Winnipeg. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 14:48, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- Please make sure a WP:CONSENSUS is established on the talk page before readding. One other editor has also raised concerns. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 14:48, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
